The wonderful old cities of Aachen and Maastricht are only a short drive away and time should be set aside to explore Valkenburg itself. Included within this tour is a train journey, a full day with a local guide and a relaxing river cruise.

Day 1 A short Channel crossing to France, through Belgium and then on to Valkenburg, Holland. Day 2 A morning guided train tour of the prehistoric municipal cave in the centre of Valkenburg. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore this lovely town, including the only hilltop castle in the Netherlands. Day 3 Today enjoy a guided sightseeing tour stopping rst at the 3 Countries viewpoint
and then continuing via the Margraten US war cemetery to beautiful Aachen. Day 4 Travel to Maastricht today, the capital of the Limburg region. On arrival we include a 1 hour cruise through to the Belgium border, before returning to the city centre. Free time to explore the stylish shops, historic buildings and cafés. Day 5 Travel through Belgium and on to Calais for the return short Channel crossing.

Day 1 Short Channel crossing. Arrive in Nuland for a 3 night stay. Day 2 Enjoy a morning visit to ‘s-Hertogenbosch, home to the largest cathedral in The Netherlands. Known for its friendly welcome, explore the cobbled streets and enjoy the pavement cafés. The city grew on its trade and a cruise on the fully restored Binnendieze underground waterway is included. This afternoon travel to the forti ed town of Heusden. Wander the picturesque streets full of galleries, speciality shops and cafés.
Day 3 Take the short journey to the historic Heeswijk Castle. With over 1000 years of history, there is plenty to explore, including the formal gardens and wider estate. This afternoon travel to the traditional town of Nuenen, where Van Gogh lived and painted. Follow the trails around the town which take you through his life and work. A visit to the Van Gogh Village Museum is highly recommended. Day 4 Travel to Calais for the short Channel crossing to Dover and home.
