Flanders and the Western Front The battles which took place in Flanders and the Western Front between 1914 and 1918 were on an unprecedented scale. Our tour is based in the historic city of Ypres, the site of numerous battles during WWI. This hotel is ideally located just a short walk from the In Flanders Field Museum and the Menin Gate.

Day 1 Channel crossing to Calais. Continue along the coast, past Dunkerque and Veurne, before travelling on to Ypres for a 3 night stay. Day 2 Morning in Ypres with a possible visit to the In Flanders Fields Museum. Then meet the included guide for a walk through Ypres, stopping at the Cloth Hall and Menin Gate. In the afternoon visit Tyne Cot Cemetery and return to Ypres with time at leisure around the Grote Markt, where there are a host of restaurants. At 8pm see the Last Post

Ceremony before returning to the hotel. Day 3 A full day discovering some of the battle sites in the area, with a local guide, including Sanctuary Wood and the Welsh National Memorial Park. A visit to the remarkable Passchendaele Memorial Museum is included. Day 4 Make a stop at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery and visitor centre, site of the largest evacuation hospital along the Ypres Salient. Finally, proceed to the short Channel crossing to Dover and home.

the Market Square and numerous museums. Often voted the most beautiful in the world, a visit to the stunning Central Railway Station is highly recommended. The city’s cobbled streets are full of boutique shops, cafes and chocolate makers. It has a long association with diamonds and the included tour of a factory gives an insight into this dazzling world. Day 4 Travel to Calais for the short Channel crossing to Dover and home.
