VETER Feerick Center Veterans’ Rights Project The Feerick Center Veterans’ Rights Project (formerly known as the Volunteer Lawyers for Veterans Program) (the Project) provides low-income veterans with legal information and assistance in civil legal matters involving VA disability benefits and consumer SERVING

2019-2020 151 veterans attended Know-Your-Rights presentations at

From 2018 to 2020, the Project focused on expanding Know-Your-Rights (KYR) sessions on these topics through the recruitment, training and support of a cohort of volunteer lawyers and law students. Volunteers presented to veterans at New York City public colleges and Vet Centers. In 2018 and 2019, the Project coordinated an Annual Veterans’ Day Clinic that featured volunteer lawyers from a range of practice areas who provided targeted information sessions on civil and veterans’ related legal issues and conducted individual consultations as needed. In 2020, the Project adopted its new name and formally transferred the Volunteer Lawyers for Veterans program name to Joseph Crowley, who served as its volunteer co-director since 2017. The Feerick Center thanks Joe for his dedicated partnership during the last three years and commends his unwavering commitment to serving low-income veterans facing unmet civil legal challenges.
