Job Description

Key responsibilities • Contribute to the continuous development and management of BEMS services infrastructure. • Provide advice on BEMS technical issues including putting forward amendments to the Technical Standards . • Support minor engineering projects. • Provide staff Training and support on BEMS. • Projects witnessing, commissioning and network connection. • Witnessing, and installation of graphic pages onto servers. • Visit project sites at regular intervals during construction. Review and comment in relation to the quality of the work and see that all works are executed in accordance with the works information, good engineering practice, Imperial and other recognised standards and all relevant statutory regulations. Raise any concerns with the relevant specialist in the Engineering Team • Monitor the progress of the contractor’s record drawings and O&M documentation. • Assist the Project Manager in driving the commissioning and completion of the engineering services accordance with the project programme. • Review and comment on the contractors and sub-contractors’ detailed proposals for carrying out commissioning procedures and performance testing. • Review and comment on the works on completion. Witness and record the specified demonstration and testing of plant systems in accordance with the commissioning specification and accept completed systems. • When the engineering systems are ready for inspection, prepare schedules of outstanding works and defects and issue the same to the Project Manager. Monitor the satisfactory completion of these items by the contractor and report to the Controls Engineer. • Monitor the completion of outstanding works and the rectification of the defects, and report to the Project Manager. • Support End Users, Academics and Service Providers by supplying BEMS data and information. • Working with the Controls Engineer, investigate and implement improvements to the existing control systems and user interfaces to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of HVAC systems, working towards Imperial’s net zero targets. • Where the Controls Engineer has identified works or an area of investigation within the control systems, plan and work through the investigation, overseeing any external resource involved with the task. • Complete all necessary training to conduct the role in a safe, efficient, and informed manner. Take CPDs to ensure that knowledge of wider HVAC subjects is kept up to date.

Purpose of the Post Working with the Controls Engineer to oversee designs, installation works, amendments, and improvements to the Building Energy Management System (BEMS). Provide support to the Property Team in the development and management of the BEMS. Ensure that the HVAC services perform in an effective and efficient manner.
