Words by Jacqui Chaisson BRIDE GUIDE

Be a couple

Arrange for a 'helper'

Invite Mother Nature

Don't ignore your new spouse after the ceremony. Greet and mingle with your guests as a couple - it's your day.

Assign a good friend, sister or maid-of- honour to cater to your needs on the big day. Have someone to help you get dressed, keep you organized, be your bathroom buddy or post on your social media.

No one can control the weather so don't let it stress you out! Formulate a 'what-if' plan that can be implemented smoothly. Most venues will have an indoor space available so ask before you book.

Imperfect can be memorable

Don't stress if something goes wrong - it's the quirky things that you'll fondly remember. The torrential downpour will make a wonderful anniversary story.

Have a 'day-of' organizer

Keep track

Hire someone or choose a wedding guest to act as 'day-of coordinator' to ensure the details are looked after and any emergencies are handled.

No one wants to spend their wedding night in the bathroom. Have a drink-buddy who will keep track of your alcohol intake and ensure you'll enjoy yourself without the morning regret.

Clear the air

Talk about the day with family and friends and explain how you may not be able to be attentive to everyone. Feelings may get hurt because someone could feel they were ignored or overlooked. Remember what's important This is your wedding day - have fun and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Keep your schedule free

Have a photography schedule

Don't plan a lot of activities for the wedding day. Plan your manicure and spa- day for the day before the wedding so you can relax before you walk down the aisle.

Include a photography schedule in the invitations so everyone who needs to be included in wedding day photographs will be aware of where and when they need to be available.

Don't micro-manage

Trust in the professionals you've hired for your big day. Don't check out the venue or do any follow-ups with flowers or caterers on the day.
