Stuckey’s would be about product, not place. She brought the candy making in-house, she built a team, formed good partnerships, and surrounded herself with smart people. Today, Stuckey’s may not have stand-alone stores on the interstate, but more than 200 retailers sell Stuckey’s pralines and log rolls at several thousand stores and on- line. Sales have gone from $2 million to $14 million in two years, and pecans, sourced 100 percent from local farm- ers, is the lifeblood. But the most important thing about change is to recog- nize what shouldn't change, Stuckey said. “Your values should not change, what really matters to you does not change, staying true to your roots does not change.
