U nlike some big box gyms, Atlantic Fitness Centre (AFC) is an Island-owned business, which, according to MacPhee, means they’re able to provide unique customer service to Islanders, including their free personal programming. “This involves a customized routine specifically designed to meet the clients needs as well as any follow-up sessions to ensure proper progress and safety standards are being set,” MacPhee says. “Free personal training is a very unique service to offer in today’s fitness market but we feel it’s the very best way to provide top-notch support.” Over the years MacPhee says they’ve discovered members with a limited athletic background or challenging health issues are the best candidates for personal training. And if you’re feeling a little nervous about working out for the first time or getting back to exercise after a hiatus, MacPhee says not to sweat it. “Our trainers always make members feel comfortable and try to calm any anxiety or nervousness they may feel from taking on this new venture,” he assures. “Many clients have different goals for various reasons so whether overall health or athletic performance is the priority, our trainers consider all the variables at hand to put together a progressive, safe routine.” In addition to personal training, what helps AFC stand out is their commitment to the latest workout machinery and gear. “We do our best to study up on the newest equipment in the market and from
