Each race drew a deep field of young talent, but McDonell’s consistency, focus, and perseverance helped him rise to the top. “The Cadet field is always stacked with fast drivers,” his family said. “To come out on top after six races is a huge achievement.” A Year of Focus and Determination When asked about Brodie’s growth over the 2025 season, his mother Natalie Leroux described him as “very focused, coachable, resilient, with a winning mindset.” She added, “He’s very perseverant and has an overall desire to have a good time. (...) Although this is high risk, and it’s a lot of pressure, he always goes in with a really great attitude despite the results.” This was Brodie’s fourth year of karting, and while he had already made several podium appearances, 2025 marked his first major championship victory after finishing second overall last season.
“This year, we had our eye on the prize,” said Mme Leroux. “It was just a very proud moment.” Brodie’s secret to staying motivated across six demanding race weekends comes from his understanding of the sport’s competitive nature. “Drivers tend to lose more than they win,” his mother said. “But he knows that putting in the hard work will yield results.” His success, she added, is made pos- sible through the support of his family which includes his father Jamie, who also serves as his mechanic and tuner, his younger brother Chase, who Brodie has helped coach to a position 2 (P2) finish, Chase’s first podium finish, and his grandparents, who cheer him on at every opportunity. Representing Canada with Pride With his Canadian title secured, Brodie qualified to compete among North America’s best at the CKNA Grand Nationals 9 at
Newcastle Motorsports Park, held from September 26 to 28, 2025. Facing 39 competitors in his class, he qualified in P3 but finished the event in P16 after what his mother described as “a tough final.” But Brodie wasn’t done yet. His final se- ries of the season, the Coupe de Montréal, saw him finish P3 overall in the standings. “That’s a pretty big accomplishment as well,” said Mme Leroux. “This was his first year racing two-stroke, and with being a rookie in the class, he placed P3 at the end of the series above some racers who have been in the class for three years now.” Brodie’s journey, from his early karting days to representing Canada on one of the sport’s biggest stages, is a testament to his drive, sportsmanship, and love for racing. As he continues to develop his skills behind the wheel, his family and community are certain that this is just the beginning of an exciting motorsport career.

Des- pite several chances on the power play, the Eagles couldn’t capitalize before the intermission. Momentum shifted midway through the second period when Vincent Bastien evened the score with a short-handed goal at 15:49, assisted by Maxime Patenaude. The tally injected life into the St-Isidore bench, setting
the tone for the remainder of the game. In the third period, Anthony Marcos broke the deadlock with an even-strength marker at 14:54, putting the Eagles ahead 2–1. Bastien sealed the victory with his second goal of the night at 1:24, this time an empty- netter assisted by Nicolas Élie, to make it 3–1. The matchup was physical from start to finish, with a total of 13 penalties on both sides, seven of which given to the Eagles.
Goaltending by Justin Casault and defen- sive composure played a key role in the Eagles’ comeback, as they shut down the Castors after the first period and maintained strong zone control in the final frame. During the third period, Blanchard’s second goal came off strong playmaking from Lankester and Methot at 7:32, after the opposing team scored one more goal, ending the game with a 5-3 loss. Despite Embrun’s strong offensive push, Renfrew’s goaltender stood tall, turning aside 45 shots. Embrun goalie, Sébastien Bour- geau, made 30 saves in the effort. The matchup saw plenty of physical play, with both teams combining for more than 50 penalty minutes for a total of 14 penalties,
assisted by Methot and Frederic Solesme, at 12:05. Another by Ryan Pomerleau, assisted by Cunningham-Fetch and Leblanc, at 17:43, before the Royals scored their first goal of the period. Mongeon, assisted by Blanchard and Lankester, scored the last goal of the game at 18:33. Goaltender Jackson Howell was solid between the goal posts, turning aside 38 of 41 shots to secure the win. The Embrun Panthers had a busy weekend on the ice, falling short in a hard-fought 5–3 loss to the Renfrew Timberwolves on Friday, October 3, before bouncing back with a convincing 6–3 win over the Richmond Royals on Sunday, October 5. The Panthers opened their weekend at home against Renfrew, outshooting the Tim- berwolves 48–35 but unable to capitalize on enough chances to take the win. Yanick Blanchard had a standout perfor- mance, scoring twice, including a power-play marker in the first period, assisted by Xavier Boulanger and Andrew Lankester, at 7:54.
Two days later, the Panthers rebounded with a dominant performance against the Richmond Royals, firing 50 shots and finding the back of the net six times. Pourquoi les femmes des communautés noires sont-elles touchées de manière disproportionnée par le cancer du sein?
ENJEUX SOCIAUX La découverte tardive d’un cancer rend son traitement plus difficile et réduit généralement les chances de survie. Malheureusement, pour plusieurs raisons, les femmes noires sont souvent diagnostiquées à un stade plus avancé. Ce retard peut être dû à un accès limité aux soins de santé, à la barrière de la langue, à des expériences passées de discrimination et de racisme ou au manque d’information sur les moyens de dépistage. AUTRES PROBLÈMES DE SANTÉ Les femmes noires sont souvent
confrontées à d’autres problèmes de santé qui peuvent faire augmenter les risques de cancer du sein, comme le diabète et les maladies cardiaques. En octobre, Mois de la sensibilisation au cancer du sein, rappelons-nous à quel point il est crucial de s’attaquer aux inégalités, que ce soit en soutenant la recherche associée aux diverses communautés ou en posant des gestes concrets en faveur de politiques de santé plus équitables.
Au Canada et aux États-Unis, les taux de mortalité par cancer du sein sont environ 40 % plus élevés chez les femmes des communautés noires. Une combinaison de facteurs explique cette situation préoccupante. COMPOSANTES GÉNÉTIQUES Les femmes noires sont génétiquement plus susceptibles de développer des types agressifs de cancer du sein, tels que le cancer du sein triple négatif. Cette forme de la maladie est plus difficile à traiter et son pronostic est souvent plus sombre.

Il y a des règles qui régissent l’endroit où les radars peuvent être placés. » Lajoie dit qu’elle respecte les deux côtés du débat, notant que le premier ministre Ford a exprimé des préoccupations au sujet de la protection des contribuables contre les coûts inutiles. « J’appuie ce que fait Doug Ford et je comprends ce qu’il dit. Je pense qu’il pro- tège toujours les contribuables, ce qui est vraiment bien », a-t-elle déclaré. « Mais je comprends l’autre point de vue selon lequel les radars aident en fait à réduire la vitesse dans les zones scolaires. La province men- tionne d’autres solutions et, évidemment, d’autres solutions sont toujours merveil- leuses. Il faut avoir l’esprit ouvert. Et si nous voulons nous en débarrasser, alors je préférerais que ces solutions soient en place et fonctionnent sur une certaine période de temps, plutôt que de simplement abandonner un programme et d’en adopter un autre, ce qui pourrait ne pas fonctionner. Préoccupations relatives aux coûts et à l’équité pour les petites collectivités La mairesse a souligné qu’une inter- diction des caméras ASE ne toucherait pas directement Casselman, puisque la municipalité n’en exploite aucune, mais elle croit que les petites communautés pourraient bénéficier si la province met en
place des mesures de sécurité alternatives. « Les radars de vitesse sont un sys- tème très coûteux à mettre en œuvre, et il faudrait avoir la trésorerie pour mettre en place ces radars de vitesse sans le soutien d’autres municipalités », a-t-elle expliqué. « Si la province a des mesures qui aideront à prévenir les excès de vitesse dans ces régions, je pense que ce sera extrêmement bénéfique pour nous. » Lorsqu’on lui a demandé d’expliquer la critique courante selon laquelle les caméras de surveillance servent davantage de reve- nus que de sécurité pour les municipalités, Mme Lajoie a reconnu cette perception, mais il a souligné que l’application de la loi sert aussi à quelque chose. « Je peux comprendre, en tant qu’auto- mobiliste, à quel point il est frustrant de recevoir un billet par la poste », a-t-elle dit. « À certains endroits, c’est probablement le cas, et nous ne pouvons pas nier ce fait. Mais (l’argent gagné) pourrait toujours être détourné vers des services communau- taires ou d’autres mesures de sécurité routière dans toute votre municipalité. (...) Et à la fin de la journée, si vous enfreignez la loi, vous enfreignez la loi. Vous ne pouvez pas vraiment contester cela non plus. Recherche de collaboration et d’alternatives La mairesse Lajoie a confirmé qu’elle n’avait reçu aucune réponse de la province ou discuté avec d’autres maires depuis la signature de la lettre. Bien que la mairesse de Casselman, Geneviève Lajoie, se soit jointe à 20 autres maires de l’Ontario pour signer une lettre ouverte exhortant le premier ministre Doug Ford à recon- sidérer son projet d’interdiction des radars municipaux, elle affirme que son soutien est fondé sur la collabo- ration et une perspective équilibrée, pas sur l’opposition. La lettre, initialement partagée par la mairesse de Burlington, Marianne Meed Ward, le jeudi 2 octobre, demande à la province d’annuler la législation prévue qui interdirait aux municipalités d’utiliser des caméras automatisées de contrôle de vitesse (ASE). La technologie est largement utilisée dans les zones scolaires et les zones de sécurité communautaire pour dissuader l’excès de vitesse. La mairesse Lajoie a déclaré qu’elle avait signé la lettre dans le cadre d’une initiative dirigée par l’Association des municipalités de l’Ontario (AMO), qui prône l’autonomie locale et l’engagement municipal dans les décisions provinciales. « On m’a demandé de soutenir cette initiative de l’AMO, alors je vais appuyer leur engagement politique », a déclaré la mairesse Lajoie. « Nous n’avons actuelle- ment pas de radars à Casselman, mais
des caméras ASE soit faite avec soin et avec la participation municipale. « Si la province a d’autres options et solutions de rechange, alors peut-être l’offrir comme un choix, afin que les municipalités puissent se retirer de ces coûteux radars et opter plutôt pour quelque chose qui est dirigé par la province. Parce que si on me donnait le choix, je préférerais ce qui est offert par la province. Bien que Casselman n’ait pas actuelle- ment de plans pour installer des radars, la mairesse Lajoie a dit qu’elle accueillerait favorablement les solutions provinciales qui sont rentables et accessibles à toutes les municipalités. PRENEZ AVIS que le Conseil de la Municipalité de Casselman tiendra une réunion extraordinaire en vertu de l’article 17 et de l’alinéa 26(3)(b) de la Loi sur l’aménagement du territoire, L.R.O. 1990, chap. P.13, telle que modifiée, afin d’informer le public de l’intention de la Municipalité de réviser son Plan officiel. La réunion extraordinaire aura lieu pendant la séance du Conseil à 18 h, le mardi 25 novembre, conformément aux exigences de la Loi sur l’aménagement du territoire, L.R.O. 1990, chap. P.13, telle que modifiée, afin d’offrir au public l’occasion de formuler des commentaires et de discuter des modifications qui pourraient être apportées au Plan officiel actuel. Cette réunion extraordinaire constitue la première étape du processus de révision, et aucun document préliminaire n’a été préparé pour cette rencontre. Tout au long du processus de révision du Plan officiel, une séance portes ouvertes ainsi qu’une réunion publique officielle auront lieu afin d’offrir au public d’autres occasions d’examiner les documents provisoires et de transmettre ses commentaires au personnel et au Conseil.
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Municipality of Casselman will be holding a Special Meeting under Section 17 and Section 26(3)(b) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, C.P. 13 as amended, to inform the public of the Municipality’s intent to review its Official Plan. The Special Meeting is being held during the Council meeting at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25 in accordance with the requirements of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, C.P. 13 as amended, to provide members of the public with an opportunity to provide comments and discuss the revisions that may be required to the current Official Plan. This Special Meeting is the first step to initiate the review process, and no draft documents have been prepared for this meeting. Throughout the Official Plan review process, there will be an Open House and a Statutory Public Meeting that will provide additional opportunities for the public to review draft documents and to provide comments to staff and Council.
