StreetScene-Oct25

David Laird out of Bear, DE, just keeps showing up in cooler cars and his latest ’32 Ford coupe in the Brookville Roadster display earned him one of the “Manufacturer’s Choice” awards. Built by Brookville it runs a SBC powerplant featuring a ’57 dual-quad intake, Wheelsmith wire wheels, a 3-inch chop and a functional rumble seat (to properly excite/scare the grandkids).

Manufacturer’s Choice Awards F or the fourth year in a row two “Manufacturer’s Choice” award winners were picked from the wide variety of cool display vehicles scattered throughout the air-conditioned Expo Center exhibit building. Most people don’t realize how many top-notch builds exhibitors feature at the Street Rod Nationals because they are spread out in various displays throughout the gigantic complex and even outdoors. Alumicraft Street Rod Grilles owner, Dan Baker, initially felt there was a need to recognize all this talent on display, so his company stepped up as the sponsor and machined gorgeous billet trophies for the Manufacturer’s Choice winners. Dan was on hand to congratulate both winners.

Trish (mom) and Austin (son) Rowden out of Murfreesboro, TN, teamed up with Smithson Speed and Engineering to finish their late dad’s in-progress project. The ’72 Chevy C10 uses CPP suspension, a cammed LS3/6L80E powertrain, Wilwood brakes, Schott Wheels, and a Dakota Digital dash in a leather interior. Looking sharp in the Wilwood display, their efforts earned the second “Manufacturer’s Choice” award.
