GM Truck Town presented by Harrison’s Rod & Custom and Auto Metal Direct

T rends have had many effects throughout the hot rodding community, especially as it became more mainstream in the late ‘40s. Many have come and gone as simple blips in our memory bank. Others have stood the test of time and remain popular decades later. There is no denying the classic truck market has been strong for years, but for old timers, classic trucks like the Ford F100 and early model ’48- 53 Chevy were always popular with the rodding crowd. Recently all that

generation included the years 1960-66, 2nd generation 1967-72, 3rd generation 1973-87 and the 4th generation when C10 changed to C/K 1500 from 1988-02. The 10, 20 and 30 series represent the 1/2, 3/4 and 1- ton versions of GM’s light truck line. Recognizing the popularity of these trucks Auto Metal Direct (AMD) and Harrison’s Rod & Custom created GM Truck Town inside the Expo Center exhibit building at this year’s 56th NSRA Street Rod Nationals. Lou Santiago was appointed Mayor and between autograph sessions and meet-and-greets, he shared his passion for classic trucks. Public voting resulted in two trucks on display receiving “Peoples’ Choice” awards at the Sunday Awards Ceremony. We think this classic truck ‘trend’ is here to stay!

popularity jumped years ahead into the Chevrolet C10 series trucks built in four different generations spanning 42 years. The 1st
