MOPAR COUNTRY
T he longest running mini event at the Street Rod Nationals, “Mopar Country,” enjoyed its fiftieth year at the 56th Street Rod Nationals. NSRA Northern Indiana Representative Larry Carter and North West Virginia State Representative Ron Fortner, both avid Mopar fans, picked five outstanding examples of Mopars for awards. While
announcing the award winners, Larry and Ron recognized Skip
Readio and his wild ’34 Ford sedan with Hemi power for having attended Mopar Country all 50 years. His embroidered shirt read; “Skip Readio 50 Year Mopar Country Participant.” NSRA North Central Division Director Jim Rose, another longtime supporter of this annual gathering for Mopar fans, was unable to attend this year but hopes to be back next year. This special attraction is open to all Mopar-bodied or Mopar- powered vehicles registered for the NSRA Street Rod Nationals.
Vintage Street Rods of America members Jim & Debbie Bledsoe cruised their road pounding ‘34 Dodge panel truck to the event. Completed ten years ago, the couple has accumulated over 70,000 miles on the Nason Sunset orange and Doe Skin colored two-tone humpback.
Joey Morris from Galatia, IL, built one for all the Mopar lovers. Joey's '70 Plymouth runs HellCat Redeye power, a six-speed Tremec, a full Schwartz chassis, a HellCat-based interi- or, and a Gator Skin top. We are in love!
