Message from the Pastor

Saint Polycarp of Smyrna once said: “When you have the opportunity to do good, do not let it go by.” This Annual Report is a testament to the fact that the people of OLMC consistently rise to Saint Polycarp’s challenge. Your charitable gifts of time, talent, and treasure are nothing short of remarkable. Between Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Lumen Gentium Academy, and other parish ministries, we have served a record number of families in Boonton and beyond. I am deeply humbled by your generosity, your friendship, and your cheerful determination to do good every chance you get. Thank you for being a light to the nations.

Father Daniel O’Mullane

Mission and Vision

Mission We exist to be a light to the world, and we live out Christ’s call on our lives by worship and witness. In prayer and sacrament God enkindles our hearts that we might bring the fire of his love to everyone we encounter. Vision We strive to be a vibrant and joyful community of faith, steeped in friendship and hospitality for all. Entrusting ourselves to the patronage of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we endeavor to make Jesus the very center of our lives through worship of God and service to our neighbors. We recognize that everything we have is a gift from God, freely given to us so that we can fulfill his plans and purposes in Boonton and beyond.

Pastoral Outreach & Care OLMC is committed to walking alongside families in the best and worst of times. Through a core team of professionals and dedicated network of caring and highly trained volunteers, we prepare people to receive the Sacraments, help them deepen their faith, and accompany them as they work through challenges such as family breakdown, grief, anxiety, and addiction. We focus particularly on fellowship within our community and service to a world in need.

Spotlight On...

Our Accompaniment Ministries We have about two dozen parish ministries , a number of which involve accompaniment. Accompaniment is not preaching or teaching; rather, it’s about relationship. It means forming a real and deep enough connection that it becomes possible to offer genuine support and witness real love. Accompaniment is an art whose ultimate aim is greater intimacy with Jesus.

School Snapshot

“To the parents of OLMC and LGA students: thank you. You’ve made a wise choice for your children, and I want to affirm you in your decision. As you can see from the paths of your alumni - and especially your recent graduates, who I’m told are already taking the world by storm - your children will be very well served by this school. Your partnership in that endeavor makes it that much sweeter for the precious souls in our care.” -Bishop Kevin J Sweeney

Student Enrollment Enrollment currently sits at 389 students . School families hail from two different states, eight counties, and three dioceses. 42 of our families are new to the school this year. Faculty The school currently employs 40 faculty members within three divisions: Lower, Middle, and High School. Our teaching team prioritizes a spirit of lifelong learning. Among other hallmarks: 25% of OLMC & LGA teachers have earned advanced degrees. Nearly 50% of our faculty have more than 10 years’ teaching experience. Teachers participate in an average of 60 hours of professional development every year.

The OLMC/LGA Impact

“LGA prepared me to communicate my thoughts and ideas confidently and live my faith earnestly at a secular college.” -JP Martinson, Stevens Institute of Technology “Not only did I leave LGA with a love of learning, but the quality of the education I received prepared me to be comfortable in a rigorous college environment.” -Cora Rose Webber, United States Military Academy at West Point “My classmates are amazed at how well prepared I am to tackle the tasks we face in college. I tell them it’s all thanks to the teachers at LGA, and now they want to come see this special place for themselves.” -Liz Morgan, Christendom College

“In many ways, God led me to working at Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Lumen Gentium Academy. My daughter had been attending for three years and during that time my respect for the mission and culture at OLMC grew immensely. I was extremely fortunate to be invited to partake in an interview. The classical Catholic education offered at OLMC/LGA produces the "best fruit" of any educational institution that I have been a part of. It is clear that not only is OLMC/LGA a mission driven school, it is a ministry of the church. Being a member of this community has deepened my faith, provided a strong foundation for my daughter as she seeks the True, the Good, and the Beautiful, and has re-invigorated my love of teaching. I am blessed to be both a faculty member and a parent at OLMC.” -Dave Gillespie
