A Facile and eco-friendly approach for the green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles using artemisia scoparia extract Aniqa Aziz, Ayesha Mohyuddin University of Management and Technology Lahore, Pakistan This study, demonstrated the fabrication of Zinc oxide nanoparticles using an extract of Artemisia scoparia by following an environmentally friendly approach. Artemisia scoparia has various medicinal and commercial applications. Synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by means of Ultra Violet Visible spectroscopy (UV- Vis), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) techniques. Antibacterial activity was performed against Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli) and Gram-negative bacteria (Salmonella entritidis and Staphylococcus aureus) which confirmed that prepared nanoparticles possess good antibacterial potential. The radical scavenging activity of ZnO-NPs was determined by DPPH (2, 2- diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) and TPC (total phenolic content) assays. In addition, the percentage photocatalytic degradation activity of green synthesized ZnO-NPs was examined against methylene blue (MB) dye. References 1.
