Breeds involved in making up the heifers include Angus, Akaushi, Gelbvieh, Red Angus, Hereford, Simmental, Beefmaster, Ultrablack and composites of these breeds. USING THE CATALOG EPD INFORMATION
Expected Progeny Differences (EPD) : Provides the best means of comparing genetic merit of animals within the breed. For each trait evaluated, the EPD incorporates the animals individual and progeny performance information from other relatives. By utilizing national sire evaluation information, the evaluation also utilizes information from related traits and accounts, in part, for differences in the genetic merit of herd mates as well as genetic trend within the breed. Each trait evaluation predicts expected progeny performance relative to a fixed breed average-hence the term “Expected Progeny Difference”. The key word is “difference”. The EPD itself does not imply “good” or “bad” performance, only whether the performance of progeny is expected to be above or below that of progeny from average parents. Breeders should, on an individual basis, decide what is best for them by considering what traits are important to their program, their current herd performance, and the degree of change desired. Accuracy (ACC) : A measure of certainty regarding the EPD evaluation for a performance trait. Accuracy is reported as a decimal number between zero and one; larger values show greater accuracy and more certainty that the EPD will not change significantly as additional progeny information is obtained. If you do not want to bear the risk, use animals with an accuracy of 0.9 or higher.
Calving Ease Direct (CED) : Expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers.
Weaning Weight EPD (WW) : The expected difference in average weaning weight (lbs.) of calves. The evaluation reflects genetic influence on pre-weaning growth rate.
Yearling Weight EPD (YW) : The expected difference in average yearling weight (lbs.) of progeny. The evaluation reflects genetic influence on pre-weaning and post-weaning growth rate.
Maternal Milk EPD (Milk) : The expected difference in average weaning weight (lbs.) of daughter’s calves, which is attributed to milking ability. In other words, it is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters.

Beef Quality Assurance is a program that provides systematic information to U.S. beef producers of how good husbandry techniques can be coupled with accepted scientific knowledge to raise cattle under optimum management conditions. Beef Quality Assurance programs have evolved to include best practices around cattle handling, facility management, cattle transportation, good record keeping and protecting herd health, which all result in better outcomes for cattle and producers. Today, having an active BQA certification is more important than ever because the full beef supply chain is leveraging the program to ensure our commitment to food safety, cattle well-being, and beef quality. Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Program producers are encouraged to obtain Beef Quality Assurance certification, but it is not required.
Show-Me-Plus Classification:
Tier Two Classification: Heifers qualify for Tier Two (white tag) in the Show-Me- Select Replacement Heifer Program based on the following minimum accuracies of the heifer’s sire at the time of sale for the respective traits listed below.

15, Angus and Angus-cross heifers. This is a quality set of heifers that have been bred with purpose. They will make excellent maternal brood cows, as they are feminine, deep-bodied, easy-fleshing, and very docile. We put a lot of emphasis on the mother cow and have a zero- tolerance policy for poor udders and dispositions. The sires of these heifers are stout-made and structurally sound, with balanced-trait EPD profiles. The majority of these heifers are bred to a bull we call Sleep Easy. He has made calving out heifers enjoyable, as they have come 100% unassisted. Heifers have been fetal sexed. Please give us a call or stop by the farm to view the heifers prior to the sale. 16, Ultrablack and 3 Red Angus home-raised heifers. The fancy set Ultrablack heifers are sired by GENEPLUS Ultrablack bulls and out of Northern quality Angus cows. Born, bred, and raised on SW MO fescue, these heifers have all the intangibles to succeed in life with the quality of their progeny that will earn the top of the market. These heifers carry approximately 1/8 th ear, meaning they will shed their hair, possess added tick, fly, and disease resistance and should have built-in immunity to eye problems and fescue toxicity issues. The fancy set of Red Angus influenced heifers stem back to the best in Red Angus genetics built on fescue in Barton County for generations, with a heavy influence from the Lacy Red Angus program in Drexel. Deep sided, easy doing kind that exhibit everything that has made the Red Angus cow so popular over the last two decades. Heterosis and hybrid vigor at their best, these heifers are either AI bred safe to the calving ease and performance leading Triple Crown, who posts 15 traits in the top 35% of the breed association, including the top 1% for CED and REA, 3% for BW and WW, 5% for YW, and 10% for IMF, or cleaned up with an elite calving ease GENEPLUS bull. From a first-time consignor, these heifers are long on quality, and built through generations of real-world, first-hand experience in the business from a family ranching operation.
