&/#3&'r#3*&'4 FIRE TRAINING The City of Clarence-Rockland is inviting other Prescott-Russell municipalities to send their firefighters to school in Rockland. Clarence-Rockland has an arrangement now with the City of Ottawa for a regional training centre to provide Ottawa Fire College courses for members of the local fire department. The City will encourage neighbouring municipalities to use the regional training centre as an alternative now to sending their own firefighters to Ottawa for training needs.– Gregg Chamberlain SIKH PARAMEDICS The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is lobbying the provincial govern- ment to amend its uniform guidelines regarding paramedic personnel, to allow male paramedics to have beards. The regulation will ensure that Sikhs who work as paramedics in Ontario will be able to fulfill all their duties on the job. Devout and practising Sikh men have full beards.– Gregg Chamberlain HEALTH CARE SUPPORT The UCPR council voted to support a resolution from the Town of Kingsville to the Ford Progressive Conservation government, for a halt to provincial government plans for amalgamation of regional public health units, regional land ambulance service agencies, and funding cuts to health services affecting local hospitals, long-term care homes, and other facilities. – GC

UNIFORM - WITH “NEW MEMBER” REGISTRATION (1 week of trial classes free)

—photo Gregg Chamberlain
