A Decade of Justice Evans Moore Celebrates 10 Years of Impact

Ten years ago, Scott C. Evans and James “Boo” Moore III had a vision to create a law firm that would truly take every client’s case personally. This year, as Evans Moore, LLC celebrates its 10th anniversary, that vision has not only been realized but has grown into something truly extraordinary. The story of Evans Moore begins before its official founding in 2015. Scott and James began handling cases as a team in 2010 while working as associate attorneys at Bell Legal Group in Georgetown, where they combined complementary skills and a shared commitment to justice. Both had spent their first two years after law school serving as law clerks and brought those experiences and impressive credentials into their partnership. From 2008 to 2010, James served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Benjamin H. Culbertson. Scott clerked for the Honorable Terry L. Wooten, United States District Judge, from October 2008 until October 2010. When they officially founded Evans Moore, LLC in Georgetown, South

Carolina, in 2015, they set out to create more than just another law firm. Their goal was to build a trusted resource and beacon of hope for injured victims throughout the Lowcountry and beyond. The numbers tell an extraordinary story of success. In their decade of partnership, Evans Moore has recovered over $100 million in verdicts and settlements for their clients. Their commitment to taking every case to trial when necessary has yielded remarkable results and earned national recognition. The firm has secured a spot among the top 10 highest South Carolina jury verdicts in multiple years (2014, 2016, 2021, 2022, and 2023) and achieved one of the top 50 highest U.S. non-jury verdicts in 2019. Most recently, in July 2025, Evans Moore secured a $10 million jury verdict in a Williamsburg County medical negligence case, an outcome expected to rank among the top 10 South Carolina jury verdicts of the year. Their commitment to rejecting inadequate settlement offers and

fighting for maximum compensation has consistently led to results far beyond what insurers first put on the table, including a $5 million jury verdict in a case with an $85,000 insurance offer and a $850,000 jury verdict in a case with just a $25,000 offer. With these results, Evans Moore has grown strategically. They’ve added a second office in Charleston and expanded their team with talented attorneys. The firm welcomed James B. Moore Jr., affectionately known as “Jimmy,” bringing three generations of the Moore family’s legal expertise under one roof. They also added George W. “Buster” Bryan III, further

CLEAN CLASSICS RETRO REMEDIES FOR A RADIANT HOME

Today’s home makeover marketplace is full of high-tech goods and gadgets designed to keep your spaces clean. However, looking to the distant past reveals plenty of practical (and, in many cases, less expensive) options to bring

the fabric on the scribbles will dissolve the pigments, making it easier to restore your child’s ad-hoc canvas to its original, clean condition. Of course, you may want to snap a few photos of your child’s art before wiping it away, and consider purchasing more appropriate things for them to draw on! Mint will suppress summer stink. Although the air tends to cool off this time of year, summer will be here again before we know it. If heat and humidity make your garbage cans stink to high heaven, you can find the answer to overcoming the odor in your garden. Grow or purchase fresh mint and place a sprig in each can daily. You’ll be amazed by how quickly the stench goes away. Tidy pet hair without time travel. Pets bring joy and companionship to our lives, but their hair can do a real number on our rugs and upholstery. Interestingly, the secret to purging pet hair emerged nearly 80 years ago. In the May 1946 issue of Better Homes & Gardens, a reader recommended rubbing a wet rubber sponge on the affected areas; a process that rolls up the hair into easy-to-remove balls. A writer from the magazine decided to test this method last year, and the decades-old directions still did the trick.

Most parents encourage their children to explore their artistic side. Still, the possibility of your little ones becoming future Picassos can become problematic if they use markers to turn your refrigerator, countertops, walls, or other nonporous surfaces into makeshift art galleries. GIVING THANKS IN GEORGETOWN

IT’S OUR 10TH ANNUAL TURKEY GIVEAWAY

What started as a way to give back to the community after the 2016 floods has become one of our favorite annual traditions. This year marks the 10th Annual Evans Moore Turkey Giveaway, and we’re proud to once again help families in Georgetown enjoy a warm meal and a little less stress this Thanksgiving. Every November, we’re reminded that something as simple as a turkey can mean a lot. It’s much less about food and more about community. The best part of the giveaway for us is getting out of the office and talking with our fellow community members. We see familiar faces, meet new ones, and share stories that bring us closer together. In a season meant for connection, these moments remind us just how strong and generous our community is. Since we started the event, it’s grown every year. We gave away 50 turkeys in 2016. By 2022, that number had increased to over 300. Our team hopes

to continue growing the giveaway in the years ahead so more families can benefit. This year’s giveaway will take place on Monday, Nov. 24. If you or someone you know in the Georgetown community could use a hand this holiday season, please call our office at (843) 995-5000. We work with a local organization that connects us with many families, but we want to ensure everyone who needs one gets a chance. We have plenty of turkeys to go around. We’re grateful to be in a position to give back, and we don’t take it for granted. The success of this event year after year is thanks in large part to the support we’ve received from our clients and community. So, from all of us at Evans Moore, thank you for making this possible. Whether you’re receiving a turkey or simply spreading the word, you’re part of what makes this tradition so special. We wish you and your family a safe and meaningful Thanksgiving.

A Paralegal With a Purpose Spotlight on Jessica Epley

Baked Pineapple Salmon

Ingredients

Inspired by ChefJar.com

October brings us National Paralegal Day, which makes it a great time to recognize the people who keep our law firm running behind the scenes. At Evans Moore, we know we couldn’t do what we do without the hard work of our paralegals and other support staff. That’s why we’re proud to spotlight Jessica, a paralegal who plays a key role in supporting our clients and the legal team alike.

• 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted • 4 tbsp hoisin sauce • 3 garlic cloves, minced • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped • Lime slices

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375 F. 2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. 3. Place pineapple slices on baking sheet. 4. Season both sides of the salmon with salt and pepper and lay over pineapple. 5. In a small bowl, whisk together chili sauce, melted butter, hoisin sauce, garlic cloves, lemon, and pineapple juice. Pour over salmon. 6. Bake for 15 minutes or until cooked through. 7. Garnish with cilantro and serve with lime slices.

Prior to joining Evans Moore, Jessica worked in the health care field for nearly two decades. She spent most of her time in women’s health, where she focused on helping patients with high-risk pregnancies and fertility. She coordinated patient care, handled insurance, and served as a patient advocate. That experience gave her a firsthand look at the challenges people face when navigating medical systems, and it shaped how she approaches her work today. When the time came for a career change, she looked to her mother, a longtime paralegal, for inspiration. “She told me years ago that I would love this work,” Jessica said. “I guess I should have listened sooner because she was absolutely right.” Jessica recently completed the paralegal program at the University of South Carolina. She loved that all her instructors were practicing professionals and appreciated learning alongside people of all backgrounds. Despite starting from scratch, she dove into the program and came out with a new appreciation for the legal field, especially medical malpractice and tort law. At the office, Jessica does a little bit of everything. Her work includes handling intake calls, submitting medical records requests, following up with providers, and helping wherever she’s needed. If you called us recently, there’s a good chance you talked to her first. Jessica brings empathy, determination, and a sense of fairness to everything she does. She sees her role as helping clients who often feel like underdogs and making sure their stories are heard and their rights are protected. Ultimately, Jessica is here to help people, and we’re lucky to have her do that work with us daily.

Make Unforgettable Moments Right at Home

BEYOND BOARD GAMES UNPLUG AND RECONNECT WITH THESE AT-HOME FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Sometimes, the best memories happen without ever leaving the house. In a world of busy schedules and nonstop notifications, slowing down at home with the people you love is more important than ever. However, “family time” doesn’t have to mean sitting silently in the same room, scrolling on separate screens. Here are some fun, creative at-home bonding activities that go beyond the usual board game night. Family Cook-Offs Pick a theme: pizza night, taco bar, or “mystery ingredient challenge,” and split into teams. Whether it’s kids versus adults or a free-for-all, cooking together (and maybe making a mess) turns an ordinary evening into a delicious adventure. You

can even offer bonus points for a judging panel and silly chef hats!

Indoor Campout Turn your living room into a wilderness escape. String up fairy lights, pull out sleeping bags, and break out the spooky stories. Don’t forget to roast marshmallows over the stove, microwave s’mores, and get the giggles going with a game of Would You Rather? under your blanket fort. DIY Movie Theater Pick a movie, create homemade tickets, pop some popcorn, and let each person take a role: usher, snack stand operator, director of pre-movie trivia. It’s a great experience, especially if pajamas are part of the dress code!

The ‘Yes Day’ Challenge Designate a day where each family member gets one “yes,” within reason. Whether it’s choosing dinner, picking a game, or deciding the music playlist for the evening, it’s a great way to give everyone a turn to feel heard and special. Story Time With a Twist Pass around a notebook (or take turns typing) and write a progressive story. Each person adds a paragraph without knowing what the next one will be. The results are usually hilarious and fun and make for great bonding experiences!
