Since 1912, the Wilder family has been farming and ranching in Snook, Texas, just outside of Bryan/College Station. Until 1982, the Wilder family primarily relied on farming as their dominant business. Fourth generation partner, Jay Wilder, expanded the horizon of the family farm by showing and investing in Limousin cattle. Wilder Family Limousin runs approximately 150 head of purebred and Lim-Flex cattle. They also run a large commercial cow operation in conjunction with the registered cattle. In the farming operation, they grow cotton, grain sorghum, wheat and soybeans. They focus on marketing show prospects, commercial and seedstock bulls and bred heifers for their fellow seedstock producers. Jay, the fourth generation partner in the operation today, is a 1993 graduate of Texas A&M University. In 1994, he and Molly married. In 1996, the fifth generation, Jayce, and twin brother, Spencer, were born. Molly is a 1993 graduate of Texas A&M as well. Currently she teaches 2nd grade for Bryan ISD. When she retires she will become more hands on with the day-to-day operations.
Throughout Jayce and Spencer’s show career they have been very successful. They have shown on the local (Brazos Co.), state (Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston and Texas Limousin Field Day) and national levels (National Western and National Junior Limousin Shows & Congress). The brothers graduated from Texas A&M University and returned home to the farm and ranch. Jay has been active with the Texas Limousin Association, serving on the board of directors for many years, including a term as the organization’s president. He is currently a member of the NALF Board of Directors.
