Vermost Insurance Agency - December 2024

Collector car insurance provides coverage tailored to these unique vehicles. It includes liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage, all designed with collectible cars in mind. Since collector cars often hold or even increase in value, most policies cover damages up to an agreed value — ensuring you get the proper coverage, unlike a standard auto policy that may fall short. At Vermost Insurance, we understand the needs of collector car owners and how important it is to protect these valuable, beautiful investments. If you or someone you know owns a collector car and is looking for the right insurance, call us today — we’re eager to help you find the best coverage options!

You’ve probably heard the old wisdom that if you pluck a gray hair, two will grow back, or maybe you’ve been avoiding the pool after dinner so you don’t drown. Many so-called old wives’ tales like these, passed from generation to generation, might be more fiction than fact. Get ready to learn the truth behind the tales as we debunk three age-old myths. IT’S SAFE TO SWALLOW GUM. As kids, we likely all heard that if you swallow your gum, it will stay in your stomach for seven years. Don’t stress that sticky stuff! Your stomach is powerful enough to digest gum without any issues. The only (rare) reason it could become a problem would be if you swallowed an excessive amount of gum, which could lead to a blockage in your intestines. YOU CAN SWIM AFTER SNACKING. Have you been scared to take a dip right after a meal? You don’t have to wait 30 minutes after eating before you go swimming, like the old myth says. When you are digesting food, your body has to use more blood to aid in the process, but it’s not enough to cause debilitating cramps that could lead to drowning. At most, you might get a minor cramp you hardly notice. PULLING A GRAY HAIR WON’T MAKE 2 APPEAR. Plucking gray hair won’t make you grow more silver strands. Every hair on our bodies comes from a single follicle, which ultimately stops producing color as we age. The loss of pigmentation affects only one hair per follicle. So, if you pluck one, that is the only hair affected, and it will likely grow back the same gray color. What you do risk by plucking gray hairs are bald spots, so it’s best to leave those gray hairs alone. Ultimately, most of these tales are just age-old fibs that have managed to stick around for generations despite science and common sense debunking them. So, the next time someone warns you about the gum you swallowed or how you prune your hair, laugh it off and share the real story. FACT-CHECK YOUR FOLKLORE The Real Deal on Old Wives’ Tales
