SPACE EXPERTS: ASTEROID ON 7-YEAR COLLISION COURSE WITH YOUR MOM NASA has just released a big update about asteroid 2024 YR4, the so-called “city-killer” that seems destined to hit the planet. When it was rst discovered last December, research- ers thought there was a small but real chance that it could hit Earth in 2029. But aer more observations and calculations, scientists now say the risk has only increased, and in fact, they are able to pinpoint the exact collision point within 0.004% accuracy. And that collision point is: your mother. New data shows there’s a 4.20% chance that the asteroid could crash into your mom on April 20, 2032. If that happens, it could leave a massive crater, but since she doesn’t have any population or cities (the only person living in your mom is your mom, as far as we know), the casualties would be “fairly low.” But it would not bode well for the space rock either. "Asteroid 2024 YR4 is somewhere between 130 and 300 feet wide," said chief NASA scientist Beverly Mills. "We consider it a size more than adequate to not only start something with your mother, but to really mess shit up for everyone if it does." Mills went on to say that, when NASA rst learned of the asteroid's existence, they knew right away there'd be a "showdown." CITY DISMANTLES AUTO FLEET PIECE BY PIECE TO SAVE GAS
In a quest to save on what has been called a glut of city-funded gasoline, Cannatown has begun destroying the city’s eet of automo- biles one by one, a move seen by some not only as controversial but, “really dumb.” At the helm of the junking operation, is rich Mr. Melon Mudd, and his small team of eager, pimpled pages, the Department of Total Eww. “Look, the people around here with the most money were pissed o about having to pay for the gas, even though it’s just pennies from their vast fortunes,” said city nance manager Heidi Jackson. “Today we honor them by bringing in a random non-machinist to attack the problem as fast as possible.” But this isn't just the fantasy quest of an ignorant, universally-despised weirdo. Lead- ers say Mudd’s top quali cation, wealth, was the main driver of his consideration for the job, whilst not addressing that the wealth has come directly from CannaTown. “ is guy has no experience in how cars work,” said Jackson. “But he was pretty pissed about all that gasoline.” “We’re so pleased at how fast he’s been re- acting and just destroying without question,” she added, “it’s almost impulsive, and like, fast and furious.” e eet of cars, however, will likely not be going fast or furious any time soon. As part of his rst order of business, Mudd ordered all gasoline tanks be duct-taped shut. Parts were removed at random, and cars, tested for improvement. Despite eyewitness accounts on the contrary, Mudd swears the xes are amazing, super genius, and not, like, related to the half-burned blunt in his oce. His biggest target: the controversial ‘car engine.’ “Everybody knows this thing sucks up the most gasoline,” Mudd reported. “ is is the majority of the waste right here. You could almost say it’s abusing us to crocodile tears because we’re paying for all that gas.” “We’re saving literally trillions of dollars. Maybe even bajillions of dollars.” Mudd said.
Opponents -- who leaders are calling absolute communists and thieves -- argue that it’s more important to address the parts of a car that most a ect fuel injection and eciency, and x them, things like lters, plugs, sensors, and an archaic air condition- ing unit that needs an update for sucking so much energy. “I know it’s radical,” said mechanic Barney Miles, “but maybe totaling the whole eet of cars isn’t the best way to x the problem.” “We kind of, like, need the cars to still run,” Miles said. Another problem is that 40% of the gas purchased to drive the cars came directly from CannaTown itself, leaving another gap- ing budget gap. “Just imagine if this was farm land, and emergency food for the needy we were talking about,” said city councilmem- ber Shayna Robinson. “ ank God, it’s just gasoline.” Drivers of the cars say the changes have already had an impact, in that they are no longer able to operate, much less move the automobiles from the garage. “ e value of the eet may have accordingly dropped 80%,” said Mudd, “but the people who need those deliveries can go F themselves.” Next up the eet is to undergo a complete installment of new batteries, along with new cars, installed around those batteries. e work is set to be done by Mudd, who draed the MS Word contract and sent it to the mayor via social media post. Mudd would also own the cars and park them in his giant 500-car garage. With the gas budget tamed for now, the city government has poured pure concrete into the old garage and will be selling the giant paperweight to the highest out-of-town bidder as soon as possible. A protest against the totaling of CannaTown’s eet began early Saturday morning near the capitol building; every protester questioning Mudd’s antics or invasive access to privacy were kindly hosed.

THE ART OF TROG: AN INTERVIEW WITH THE ARTIST
Trog's vintage signature style may already be a familiar sight in your world; he's created art for numerous functions, events and comics throughout the years. Now you can nd his work on the cover, and adorning our limited-edition vape battery packs as Can- napages celebrates 15 Years! We sat down to discuss his inspirations and style. Can you tell us about your journey as an artist? How did you start? It started out on a couch, smoking bongs, as a teenager just drawing on paper pads…in a time that was way more simple. It was before any career existed, there was nothing, just the dreams of what I wanted to do. Your art has a very vintage feel, harkening back to the original High Times magazine and 70’s music posters. What or who are your biggest in uences? My biggest in uences are from that time. De nitely in uenced by Rick Grin, Gilbert Shelton, Robert Williams ,Stanley Mouse,
Robert Crumb, Victor Moscos - and I love Rock Poster art. When I started there weren’t really that many rock posters for weed shows that I could see as the internet wasn't really a proper thing then. I could see a few High Times Cup posters and they were like the holy grail I suppose, like I used to think, imagine drawing a poster for High Times Cup... how cool would that be! How would you describe your style? Has it evolved over time? - Its Underground Comix with an X--and some WEED! It's de nitely evolved over time, like if I look back at older work I can see how I now do di erent parts and di erent lines on certain things, but my whole career I've tried to not evolve as I want to stay true to what I wanted to do when I started. It's a weird one. I do it for my career, not for "now." Do you feel like art should have a theme or message? Or is it simply cathartic? Are you ever surprised by the messages and themes others nd when they interpret your work? If we are talking about commercial work then yes, that generally has to carry themes and messages as the client is trying to portray what they want the customer to see. But wast- ed comic art (the proper stu ) doesn’t really have a message, it's more like it just happens, it ows out onto the paper. What has been the biggest challenge in your career? Ever had moments where you consid- ered giving up or taking up something new? I have never had a plan B, so that was never an option. It's more like the conversations I have with my own head are how can I make it work? It is actually dicult at times as your career grows and grows. It also brings in some bad parts too, you need to deal with them and they do take away from the real part that is making the art.

How do you think social media and technology have in uenced the art world? Any thoughts about AI trying to recreate what you do? Social media is killing art, all these artists saying the same shit, doing the same videos to try and boost their careers on those apps as a video tells them that thats what the algorithm wants. I try to keep my social media to just fo- cus on images of my artwork and the culture. Any advice to give aspiring artists? Learn what makes the artists you look up to great. Are there any upcoming projects or exhibi- tions you’re excited about? My good friend Charlie Strackbein contacted me the other day about working on the new poster for Monroe Street Fair / Hashbash in Michigan. at excited me--my heads got all kinds of ideas and concepts oating around right now trying to gure out what we are doing to do on that poster. It's one of my favourite ones I get to do each year. Do you see your work evolving in the future? Hopefully not evolving much, just staying true to what my art is and the culture behind it. I like being that artist who still uses paper and ink and does it by hand, drawing is an artform, keep it an artform not an app. If you could collaborate with any artist who would it be–and how do their vibes align or contrast with yours? If we could time travel I would de nitely like to go back in time and put some of my artworks into ZAP COMIX. What do you hope people take away from your work? Can you share a project or piece that holds special or deeper meaning? e canvas artwork called “HEAVENS FULL” (page 11) . I had actually drawn it before--like I hadn’t but I had if that makes sense--when doing it I knew I had already done it, hard to describe. What has been the most rewarding moment of your journey so far? On a personal level I had the opportunity to draw a live canvas at Seattle Hempfest in 2013, from the hempfest booth right in front of the main stage. at was probably one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me in my career. A lot of the older Hempfest sta compared my work to the artists who I'm in uenced by, so that was a really cool thing to hear in person. On a commercial level, the most rewarding moment was probably when a major USA publisher approached me to draw a coloring book. at book ended up in some of the largest bookstores around the world, so that was de nitely cool.

Recipes from Cousin D **15 YEAR BIRTHDAY CUPCAKES** Can't attend the CP15 birthday? Here's your chance to join in the camaraderie as we'll feast on these cakes at the Quinceañera! Ingredients Cupcakes 1 3/4 cups our 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 cup butter 1/4 cup infused canola oil (dosed as desired) 1 cup sugar 3 egg whites or ~3 uid oz egg whites. 1 tbsp quality vanilla OR bean paste 1/2 cup whole milk 1/2 cup sour cream 50 mini cupcake liners or 15 full-sized Frosting 1 lb butter
Directions Cupcakes - Preheat oven to 350°. In a medium bowl si together our, salt, baking soda and powder. In a separate large bowl combine together butter, infused canola oil, sugar, egg whites, vanilla paste, milk and sour cream. Add dry mixture gradually and evenly into creamed mixture until fully incorporated. Optionally, spritz the cupcake liners of your choice (mini or full-size) with just a bit of non-stick cooking spray. Fill each one about 2/3 full, and bake 10 min (18 min for full-size) until a toothpick check comes clean. It’s a good idea to watch these as ovens can vary; they’re done when a dome forms in a slightly golden hue. Yields about 45-50 mini cupcakes, or 15 full-sized. Frosting - Cream together all ingredients (adding the powdered sugar slowly with your mixer) until u y. You may need to add a tablespoon of milk or two to help thin and make spreadable. Scoop into a piping bag and dollop onto your creations when fully cool, then decorate your heart out!
