Contract management and finance

• Manage the production of technical briefs and NEC3 Scopes for professional services contracts.

• Managing external consultant including fee proposals, appointments, variations with referral to the Head of Projects for approvals • Contract manage the external professional services of architectural, engineering and programme management on a commercial, time and quality basis.

• Budget manager for any consultancy support for the design.

Management and leadership

• Build the internal Design Delivery Team, developing the team structure and lead on recruitment of all roles. Responsible for setting and managing SMART objectives, encouraging learning and day-to- day management of the team. Ensure the Individual Performance Reviews are carried out for staff in the Design Delivery Team. Research and develop new ways of working and manage continuous change within the team. • Effective and constructive membership of the Project Team, contributing to the strategic direction of the Estates Services

• Deputise for the Head of Projects, when appropriate.

• Membership of programme and project boards as required.

Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions of Service are as determined by the Vice-Chancellor for Support staff (within a framework set by the Board of Governors), and will have regard to any national recommendations arising from negotiations between the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA), and the recognised trade unions in so far as these are adopted by the Board / Vice-Chancellor. Salary is currently within Grade 8. On appointment staff will normally be placed on the first point of the substantive grade for the post. Appointment above this will only be on an exceptional basis and subject to approval in line with our University’s Pay Policy. *Support Staff Annual leave entitlement begins at 38 days + 8 days bank holiday and 3 days Christmas Stand down.
