say. “Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city,.and continue there a year, and buy and sell and get gain: whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.” Peter promised never to forsake Jesus, that he would die first, but forsook Him and denied Him that same night (Matt. 26:33- 35, 69-75). Jonah purposed to run away from God; but God sent a storm after him and brought him back. Jesus said, “With out me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). How then can we say what we are going to do all our life? The Story of Solomon. Our Scripture lesson today tells what Sol omon did about it. He first offered a very costly burnt offering to God. That was the way they used to do to show that they consecrated or surrendered themselves wholly to God, which was just to own that they belonged to Him. He next said to the Lord, “I am but a little child,” which was to say, “ I do not know how to do or go.” All this pleased the Lord, I think, better than any promises Solomon could have made, and He gave Solomon great wisdom since he showed so much already. What Shall W e Do With Our L ife? This we can do, take ourselves to Jesus as the mothers did their babes, and say, “I am but a little child, I know not how to go out or in” ; and He will Surely take us up “ in His arms and bless” us, and if we trust and wait will yet say of us, “ This is My pur pose for My life which is in this boy, this girl.” "Take my life and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee,” Here is a verse for you to learn: Lord I’m but a child, and know Not how to do, or say, or go; Teach me then that I may see What Thy purpose is for me. Thou hast made me for some good; Thou hast bought me with Thy blood; Lord, what Thou wilt have me do In Thy love and wisdom show.

if the man could have cut it into 1000 strips the hateful picture would have haunted him still. Making Pleasant Memories. The text tells us to think good, lovely, and holy things. See how good they are! Thinking such thoughts is like planning beautiful pictures. But it is not enough to think them, we must do them. That is like painting our plans. A converted heathen learned the Sermon on the Mount by heart. He said that he could not make it stick until he had found a neighbor to practice it on. Another thing: To make good mem ories we must, as far as we can, avoid thinking, or doing, or even hearing and seeing had things. Turn the faces of your bad pictures to the wall whenever they get looking at you. What kind of memory pictures do you see,at “movies” ? The great way to get rid of bad and to make pleasant memories is to “let Jesus have His way” with you. He has a way even of turning the bad ones to pleasant account. A father woke one night and heard his little son crying out in his sleep, “ I don’t want it there, I don’t want it there!” When his father hurried to him he found he had been dreaming of the judg ment book with its record of the wrong he had done. They got on their knees and asked Jesus to blot it out with His precious blood—and we believe He did. Sunday, September 6.—1 Kings 3:3-15 My Purpose for My Life CONSECRATION MEETING 1. Your Life Is Not Yours. God says, “All souls (lives) are mine” (Ezek. 18:4) ; and again in 2 Corinthians :6 :19, 20, “ Ye are not your bum, ye are bought with a price." W e are God’s for He made us; and we are Christ’s. He bought us with His blood; He gave His life for our life. What right have we to say what we will do with what does not belong to us? 2. W e Cannot Tell What W e Will Do. Read what James 4:13, 14 says to such as
