Cornwall Historic Jail The Historic Cornwall Jail, attached to the United Counties Building on Water Street, is now open on weekends, from 11 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. This year, prison costumes will be available for those who want the full inmate experience. Over 60 people gathered at the Civic Complex on September 10 in order to participate in the Diversity Day. The attendees left the complex and made their way towards City Hall, creating Cornwall’s first Pride March. “You’re now part of history,” explained the Pride Marshall, Lulu. “Be loud and be proud!” The event kicked off the Pride weekend, which consisted of dances, a brunch and several other activities, all under the rainbow flag. The flag was popularized as a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) pride and diversity, by San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker in 1978. — photos Francis Racine
