RECEPTIONS Whether you're having a large or small wedding, without question your music professional is essential to the overall success of your ceremony and reception. A local music vendor from Mackinac has experience and is properly equipped to handle all the logistics and responsibilities required to perform on the Island. The first dance is the song that says something about the newlyweds as a couple. Think about what makes you unique as a pair and try to find a song with lyrics that reflect those sentiments. Take a dance lesson or learn something for your first dance together, it's a real crowd-pleaser. More memories are made when things are unconventional. Professional DJ Brevin Cawthorne of A-LIST EVENT GROUP says, “Great wedding entertainment starts with understanding your vision. Some couples give us their must-play songs and let us design the flow. Others trust us to curate the entire soundtrack based on their style and guest demographics.” Brevin adds, “What matters most is reading the crowd in real time— building energy, blending genres, and keeping guests of all ages on the dance floor. That’s what creates the unforgettable moments couples are looking for.” Contact DJ Brevin at 517- 819-3287 . The traditional formalities such as the toasts, cake cutting, bouquet toss, the first dance and special bridal dances need to be discussed in advance with your DJ. Coordinate timing of all these activities with the hotel staff. Finally, confirm the ending times of the reception, and what the cost would be to extend playing more music that night. Determine and understand all these details in advance, not the day of the wedding, and things will be perfect! Some hotels have an early cut-off time because of the noise, but it's easy to keep the party going. Just pick a place downtown ahead of time and let everyone know where to meet after the reception. The Pink Pony, Horn’s Bar, The Gate House, Patrick Doud’s Irish Pub, Mary’s Bistro Draught House, and The Mustang are all great places typically open until late night.
