As an employer you can upskill your workforce through an apprenticeship. If you are a levy payer you can use the levy to pay for the training. If you are a construction business, additional grants are available through CITB. An employer is required to pay an apprentice a salary. The National Minimum apprenticeship wage, regardless of age, is £5.28 per hour for the first year of their apprenticeship. This will rise to £6.40 in April 2024. Thereafter, it will rise to the National Minimum salary for their age.
