Henry C. Buell. This is a little pamphlet of twelve pages prepared by Mr. Buell, who is pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church, Long Beach, Cal., and is the outcome of his studies in connection with the Whole Bible S. S. Lesson Course. On the inside cover is a map showing the countries concerned in the study, followed by a complete outline of the book, and then the ‘‘story” of the book, ending with a page of questions which the student should be prepared to answer if he has really studied Genesis. It is Mr. Buell’s intention to fol low this study of Genesis with similiar studies of other Old Testament books. (Bird’s-Eye View Pub. Co.) 10c each, $1.00 per dozen, $7.00 per hundred.

AMBITION It frets like an eagle shut in a cage, It wears the soul as the restless wave Wears the rock in its fiercest rage; Knowing no rest this side of the grave. Cursing the bosom it rests within, Bringing nights of waking, and days of pain; Hoping and fretting and striving to win, Rising, and soaring to sink again. Rest it knows not, nor an hour of peace, But fretting, and weariness, loss and strife, Seeking in vain for a moment’s release, Setting its hopes on this fleeting life. Like Dead Sea apples that tempt the eye, But turn to ashes and dust at last, Like desert springs that seem so nigh, But vanish into the distant vast— Ambition turns tasteless nor satisfies; Forever bound by a distant goal And though it at first may tempt the eyes, It gives no food or drink to the soul. —Mrs. A. P. Jarvis.

disobeyed. Rehoboam’s mother was an idolatrous woman who worshipped idols, and so Rehoboam did not receive the right teaching from his mother, and he suffered because His father Solomon disobeyed God’s command. Our mem ory verse is such a good one, and we need to remember it every day. Let us say it over until we know it, and then we can say it over during the days of the week at home." ‘‘Hear instruction and be wise.” That means listen to good advice, and obey it. Closing Prayer. “Dear Heavenly Father, we thank thee for the Bible which gives us the right kind of instruction, and help us to always obey its teachings. This we ask in Jesus’ name." Amen.
