King's Business - 1967-11

H A V A N A (continued) whole play must be acted out re ligiously in order that evil be destroyed by good. This was the reason for the serious attitude of the people. It was to them a re ligious act in which they were identifying themselves with that which was good. Yet they were in a jovial mood because they knew that good would win and evil be defeated. The preliminaries were over and it was quite dark, when a jeep arrived on the scene, moving slowly through the crowd. It drove up to the dais and into it climbed the two gods and the holy man. Then, with Hanuman bran dishing his club and clearing a path, the jeep moved toward the paper giant. As it drew near, there was a hush of expectancy. Suddenly the gods jumped down from the jeep and ran forward. Stopping in front of the effigy, they nocked arrows to their bow strings and shot them into it. There was a burst o f flame and the giant, which had been well- soaked with kerosene and loaded with fire crackers, went up in a machine gun volley of fireworks and flame. As it did so, the thou sands of onlookers cheered and screamed. Evil had again been overcome for another year and they were partakers in the vic tory. Then floodlights were turned on and the people joyfully con gratulated each other. Everyone was friendly. They smiled at us and brought us white candy on a shining brass tray. The monkey- god, Hanuman, came and tapped us on the heads. “ It is a blessing,” the people told us. “ He is glad that you came to take pictures.” We walked out to our car with a verse from Corinthians running through our minds. “ But if the gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost; In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gos pel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” EE]

E X C E P T I O N S ! Notice also that there is no price attached to this salvation offered to all without exception. The Spirit says, “ Whosoever will, let him take the water of life FREELY.” This makes it available to anyone without one limit ing restriction. It is FREE. This leaves EVERYONE without excuse. Do not think that because it is FREE, it is therefore cheap. It is still the most expensive thing in the world, for it cost God the wealth of Heaven! The price of redemption was infinite; yet IT IS PAID IN FULL! It only needs to be accepted by faith, relying on the absolute integrity of Him who said, “ Whosoever will may come.” WHO may come? WHOSOEVER, anyone — everyone without exception! THOT: You need no special appointment to pay a visit to the Great Physician; all you need to do to gain His help and certain aid is to acknowledge that you are sick!

T he word “whosoever” occurs one hundred seventy-nine times in the Bible. The word “whoso” (which means the same as whosoever) occurs fifty times—a total of two hundred and twenty-nine times. I myself count ed them. You may ask, what good was it to count them? Well, at any rate, I wasn’t criticizing you while I was doing it. I was blessed by the fact that the words were used so often and al ways meant the same identical thing. What does “whosoever” really mean? It means “ ANYONE — WITHOUT EXCEPTION.” It excludes no one. It crosses all lines and man-made divi sions. It does not put up barriers between good and bad, rich or poor, white or black, religious or irreligious; it is “whosoever.” And why am I so happy about this? Because if there were exceptions, I would be worried about the possibility of being one of those excluded.
