look upon it as entertainment rather than an opportunity to receive a -mes sage. Parents should be invited to the children’s own program on Sunday morning or Saturday afternoon. They are at ease in the familiar Sunday school room. All children can participate with understanding in a simple program in their own department room. The praise and admiration given for a good performance in the sanctuary actually teaches the favored young sters to be proud and selfish. Young children are at their best mentally and physically in the day time. The large evening crowd can be too stimulating. Without the confusion of getting small children on and off the plat form and keeping them quiet during the program, every part of the pro gram can be used to present the Gos pel message effectively. Q. Can you suggest an effective Boy’s Program for our church? A. Every church can have an effec tive Boy’s Program if they use the program set forth by the Christian Service Brigade of Wheaton, Illinois. This program is effective if any church will provide: 1. One man willing to complete the home study Brigade training course. 2. At least three additional men willing to form a Brigade Commit tee. 3. Eight, more or less, active boys between the age of 12 and 18. Note the following steps toward establishing a Chartered Brigade Battalion, as outlined in the CSB Guide book: 1. Church Action: The church prayerfully establishes the program by setting up a Brigade Committee which will administer the local Bri gade. 2. Committee Organization: The newly-appointed Committee meets, organizes, and establishes its own responsibility, and takes action to appoint a Brigade leader. 3. Leadership Preparation: The Committee applies and sends for the Brigade leadership material. It fol lows through and completes the basic leadership training program. 4. Program Planning: Following completion of the leadership train ing, the leaders and Committee will meet together and pray, plan and point toward the target date of a weekly boys meeting. 5. Charter Recognition: After four regular boys meetings, the Commit tee can and must apply for the official charter.
