If we will accept Christ as our Substitute who died in our stead, and will receive Him as our per sonal Saviour, we can know that “He was wounded for our trans gressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed” (Isa. 53:5). Or, in other words, “by His stripes we are saved.” “Ruby, God’s Word tells us in John 1:12: ‘As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.’ So if you will receive Jesus as your own Saviour, you will be saved at once and receive a new nature from God that can do good (Eph. 2:8-10).” When Ruby understood that she could really be saved at once, a glad look came into her eyes. Then I asked her if she would re ceive the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour. This she did gladly with all her heart. I did not see or hear about Ruby again for nine years, so that when I next met her, she was a lovely young lady of nineteen, an earnest Christian, living for her Saviour. She was sure she was saved, and just as sure that it had happened that day I talked to her when she was ten. You see, you can receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour anywhere, wherever you are. You can do it right now as you read this true story. Will you do it now? Just pray to Him and say, “ Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, but I be lieve You died for my sins on the cross. I do accept You right now as my own Saviour.” If you will do this with all your heart, Jesus will receive you and forgive you all your sins and save you. You can then know that you are saved by the assurance of God’s Word and the witness of His Holy Spir it within you (I John 5:10-13).
