The testi mony of these independent churches is being felt more and more; the great missionary program increas ingly is being supported by these churches; more and more young peo ple are coming from them into Chris tian schools throughout our country. If there is to be any revival before the Lord returns, we believe that in large measure it will be the result of the faithful ministry and the faithful proclamation of the Word of God in these congregations. It should be added that there are a number of so-called smaller de nominations who never identified themselves with the N.C.C. and who are standing true to the Word of God and who are faithfully carrying on their program of saving souls and building saints up in our most holy faith. BIOLOGY (continued) when the bell rang yesterday?” Hope rose to her feet, saying, “Only this, Miss Landon. I want ed to say that I believe there are others in our class who have the same convictions as I do in regard to the Bible.” “ I don’t believe it,” snapped Miss Landon, “but we shall soon find out.” She turned to the class. “ If there is another person in this class who believes as Miss Da vidson does, please stand to your feet.” Before she had finished speak ing, nearly half o f the girls were standing. What followed can best be described as an old-fashioned “ popcorn meeting.” It seemed that everyone wanted to talk at once. Some were wet-eyed; oth ers, with their arms around Hope, were asking her forgiveness for letting her stand alone. Miss Lan don was at a loss to know how to handle the situation. She couldn’t be expected to know, since she had never attended a revival service or been asked to pray for souls under conviction. So she just stood there, helplessly look ing on. Finally it occurred to her that perhaps Hope could handle the group. Hope caught her dis tressed, appealing look, and in a calm voice said, “ Let us all kneel in prayer.” The praying and confessing continued throughout the 40-min- uate class period and Miss Lan don made no effort to stop it. The girls may not have learned any biology that day, but many of them learned to know God in a new and real way. There were many new faces at the evening service in Pastor Da vidson’s church the next Sunday. During the t es t imony service which followed, more than a score of Hope’s classmates told of being saved in the classroom that memorable day because of her brave confession o f faith!
