CAOC's New Lawyers Division ("NLD") continues to build on an outstanding year, creating opportunities for education, networking, leadership, and service for attorneys in their first ten years of practice. With a busy summer behind us and an even busier fall ahead, the NLD remains committed to bringing members together while providing practical programming that helps young lawyers thrive. Summer kicked off with the NLD Waterfront Reception on July 23 in Venice, where members gathered for an evening of networking, reconnecting with colleagues, and welcoming new faces to the organization. Events like these continue to remind us that one of the greatest strengths of the plaintiffs' bar is the willingness of experienced attorneys and new lawyers alike to build meaningful professional relationships outside the courtroom. Education has remained a major focus of the NLD. On August 5, the NLD will once again partner with CAOC's Legal Staff Support Group (LSSG) to present the webinar Drafting Motions Can Be Fun……., I Promise! Led by NLD Education Chair Tatevik "Vicki" Gasparyan, the program will explore the most common motions young litigators encounter in
practice while offering practical drafting tips and strategies. The presentation will also address one of the legal profession's fastest-moving topics: the responsible use of artificial intelligence in litigation. The discussion highlights recent developments involving attorneys' misuse of AI, ethical considerations, and practical guidance for incorporating emerging technology into everyday practice without compromising professional obligations. The collaborative format with LSSG continues to be a tremendous success, bringing together attorneys and legal staff for practical, real- world education. We hope to see you there. The NLD will also join forces with CAOC's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for the annual Perch LA Reception on August 19. Held on the rooftop overlooking downtown Los Angeles, the event brings together members from across California for an evening of networking in one of the organization's signature summer events. We extend our thanks to everyone who helped organize what is sure to be another outstanding reception. Looking ahead, preparations are already underway for CAOC's Annual Convention this fall. The NLD Education Committee is developing an interactive mock trial program that will give attendees an opportunity to participate in various aspects of trial practice, from opening statements to witness examinations and closing arguments. Designed as an engaging and educational experience, the program promises to be a unique addition to this year's Convention.
