What does your typical work day consist of?

“I supervise the organization’s payroll functions, which includes processing payroll on time, accurately and in compliance with government regulations. I ensure all compliance reports are prepared and fully reconciled, and I also serve as the Payroll/HRIS system reporting expert, making & generating reports daily.”

What was your start date with the organization?

“I started in October of 2008.”

Have you held any other positions within the company?

“I started my professional journey with C&B fifteen years ago as an HR Generalist. As the organization expanded, I transitioned towards a focus on the payroll aspect of HR.”

How long have you been in the commercial DFH/ construction industry?

“Twenty-one years!”

A Day in the Life of... an HR, Payroll & HRIS Manager

What do you enjoy most about your role?

“Working with the wonderful HR team we have!”

The Corporate Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and supervising the organization’s payroll functions, including processing payroll on time, accurately and in compliance with government regulations. Additionally, this person ensures all compliance reports are prepared and fully reconciled. Penny was raised in Winston-Salem and lives one hour north of the Corporate office in a small town called Walnut Cove! She is happily married and will celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary soon! The couple share an incredible son and daughter together.

Penny Richardson has been with The Cook & Boardman Group for fifteen years, and worked in the construction industry for twenty-one!

Provide two fun/ interesting facts about yourself that others may not know.

“I’m a survivor of Childhood Leukemia, and I once had a pet deer!”

Favorite pastimes?

“My three favorite pastimes include enjoying live performances by local bands on Saturday nights, spending quality time with my family (especially my adult children) and simply relaxing by the beach.”
