Welcome to the Show-Me Reds Sale It is time again for the annual Missouri Red Angus Show Me Reds Sale and Meeting. With cattle markets continuing to thrive and green grass beginning to emerge, this is certainly an exciting time to be seeking additions to your herd. It is fair to assume that there are many options available to you as you search for cattle this spring. So, what sets this event apart? As a buyer, this sale is a unique opportunity to connect with a large group of progressive breeders in a single location. The breeders at this event are eager to both earn your business, as well as build lasting relationships. Whether you are long established in the Red Angus business, or just getting started, I assure you that you can find value in attending this phenomenal event. One innovation that our association has implemented is the MORAA Fescue Belt Certification Program. Cattle from the fescue belt are more likely to thrive in our environment and in most environments in the U.S. As you browse the catalog, you will find cattle that qualify for the Fescue Belt Certification identified as such. The demand for quality Red Angus genetics is at an all-time high. As we look at trends in the beef industry, we know that it is time to build back the American cowherd. The maternal traits of mothering ability, fertility, docility, and longevity are hallmarks of Red Angus genetics. In this offering you will find genetics from the top tier of the Red Angus breed. Whether you are shopping for a show heifer, registered cows, bulls, or commercial cows this offering has something for you. I would also like to suggest to those of you who may not be looking to purchase cattle, but who have a stake in the health of the Red Angus breed in Missouri, come see this event. I cannot stress enough the kindness, professionalism, and depth of knowledge you will find as you walk the pens here in Springfield. Sale cattle will be in & available for viewing on Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning. Whether you intend to buy or just come visit, we truly look forward to seeing you on sale day. If you are unable to attend, don’t hesitate to contact any of the consignors or buyer representatives listed in this catalog. Additionally, the sale will be broadcast live over the internet through DV Auction.
Please RSVP to join us for our Annual Meeting Dinner on Saturday night - we would love for you to join us.

MISSOURI RED ANGUS ASSOCIATION Fescue Belt Certified Program
Many of us who live in the “fescue belt” have experienced the problems associated with import- ing newly purchased cattle into our environment. What we’ve seen is a significant percentage of cattle that have not been raised on fescue struggle to perform after being imported onto this
“grass we love to hate”. Some animals eventually overcome this issue, but many will not and will eventually be culled from the herd.
Fescue toxicity results from toxins called ergot alkaloids, which are produced by a fungus called endophyte that grows within the fescue plant. Cattle experiencing fescue toxicosis may exhibit rough hair coats, heat stress, suppressed appetite, poor growth rates, reduced reproductive performance, and in some cases lost tail switches or even hooves. The decreased animal performance seen during the “summer slump” of cool-season pastures is made even worse by these toxic effects of fescue. Research on the subject of fescue management has been done for years. Several strategies can be used to mitigate the toxic effects of fescue, including removal or suppression of seedheads, overseeding of pastures with legumes or other forages, and good min- eral supplementation programs. However, fescue remains a serious challenge. The USDA estimates fescue toxicosis costs the U.S. beef industry an estimated $600 million to $1 billion annually in lost revenue because of reduced reproductive and growth rates in cattle herds. The entire state of Missouri is situated within the fescue belt. Since fescue was introduced into our region, Missourians have built their herds retaining only genetics that have proven to be “fescue tolerant.” When looking for Red Angus genetics, look for the MORAA FBC logo & cattle that have “Bred-in Fescue Tolerance.”

THE SHOW-ME REDS SALE
APRIL 27, 2025 • SPRINGFIELD, MO
In 2021, the Red Angus Association of America launched the “Red Choice” program to promote improved heifer development, increase marketing opportunities for Red Angus females and create reliable sources of high-quality replacement heifers for cattle producers. The program embraces proven reproductive and genetic management practices which, in turn, lead to high-quality, long-lasting females that are ready to hit the ground running in commercial herds.
Based on the Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Replacement Program from the University of Missouri, the RedChoice program comes with several requirements that increase the overall quality of enrolled females such as minimum vaccination requirements, pre-breeding exams, utilization of reproductive technologies, parasite control and feet and leg scoring. The program culminates with sale eligibility wherein cattle producers can purchase premium Red Choice females for their herd with the confidence that those females have been managed and raised to the highest quality standards possible. The primary goal for these better-managed heifers is their retention in the herd of origin, where their extra value will be measurable over High-Quaity Red Angus Females
The Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Program provides cattle producers with tools to enhance reproductive andgenetic potential of their herds and improve ultimate profitability. The program transfers science-based knowledge that enables participants to make practical production decisions that impact their bottom line. The Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Program is an educational conduit for beef producers, veterinarians and allied industry, and is focused on enhancing the adoption of reproduction and genetic/genomic technologies across Missouri. The program, which began in 1996, is the only statewide on-farm beef heifer development and marketing program of its kind in the United States.
Nearly 150,000 heifers, from more than 900 farms, are enrolled in the program. The marketing arm of the program has reported sales of almost 37,000 heifers into 20 states nationwide, with gross receipts of more than $60 million. To date, MU’s investment in implementing the Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Program has resulted in an estimated impact of $200 million statewide.
Premium Red Baldy is a tagging program designed to take advantage of hybrid vigor by maximizing the best traits of both Red Angus and Her- eford and providing commercial producers with premium replacement females. The program will help producers access genetically verified females that have the best combination of longevity, fertility and adapt- ability to incorporate into producers’ herds.
Two Breeds - One Powerful Female
To qualify for Premium Red Baldy, females must be sired by bulls in the top 50% of the breed for Baldy Maternal Index (BMI$) or Profitability and Sustainability Index (ProS). Targeted breed percentages will range from 25%-75% for both breeds, with the bal- ance being the alternate breed. Females must be red-bodied with either a bald or brockle face. As the nation’s cow herd expands to meet beef demand, Premium Red Baldy females will rise to the challenges of producing more beef sustainably and profitably, without sacrificing quality. The Premium Red Baldy program has the ideal balance of maternal and carcass traits, which will yield cattle poised to increase the profitability of the commercial producer.

Daughter of Six Mile Marta 808J(4502547) and Nio Rattler 1065 (4520455) (John Wick x U2 Beauty). This yearling heifer is packed with royalty top and bottom. This heifer has been a stand out since day one. She has an exceptional hind leg and foot, and brings noticeable bone and mass to her moderate frame. She continues to impress as she grows and matures. Broke to tie, this sweetheart can go to the show ring or flourish in production, either way her best days are ahead of her.
This is the first offering out of our top young donor C-Bar Stony 60H (4432219), a maternal sibling to the famous C-Bar Ms Stony A302. 607M is a Nio Rattler 1065 daughter which combines U2 Beauty 113Z and John Wick 882E. This yearling heifer stands out in a crowd with her dark red color, incredible eye appeal and sound structure. She has been a favor- ite of ours from the time she was born. It’s not easy to let this one go. It will be hard to find a pedigree as stacked as this outstanding female’s.

We’ve been impressed with the mass of this Seneca granddaughter since she hit the ground. 5-L Heart of the West 8M is deep bodied, wide topped, with a good spring of rib. Her dam and sister are built the same way, and have been consistent, easy calvers in the in-laws’ herd for years. Her sire, HPR PHH High West 0260 (#4477283), was their 2022 pick of the Harms Plainview Ranch sale, and is just as consistent as the cow side. With the genetics and consistency behind her, we’re excited to see what Heart gets done. She comes halter broke.

Take note of the potential in this one! Extended in her neck and body, wide behind her shoulder, and with that swoopy belly judges love to talk about, JL Jessie’s Girl 764B has the right build and shape to go far. We love how powerful she is, the size of her hip, and how she moves. Give her a little time on feed, and she’ll really take off. To top it off, Jessie has a sweet and easy-going personality and a dam that’s proven herself. She is going to make an awesome show project.

We struggled with the decision to let JL Pistol Annie 184 go because we love the genetics so much. Her dam, TW Anna-Marie 818F (#3950675), is one of our most consistent cows. She AIs on the first try, and every heifer she’s ever had has been deep bodied with a good hip. Her sire, Six Mile Hi Caliber (#3592536), is an intriguing Canadian outcross. Long bodied, huge boned, and heavy muscled, we’re interested to see how his progeny grows. Take advantage of this offer, because our loss is your gain! She comes halter broke.

On first glance you can see the phenotypic quality this heifer possess- es, however, her most important attribute is the maternal side of her pedigree. Her dam 554C has a flawless performance record, calving 6 straight years to first service AI. Furthermore, the 554C cow produced our top selling bull in 2024 as well as my personal favorite heifer born in 2023. She will be green broke to halter and tie and would make a fantastic project for a junior buyer. We have full confidence this will be a profitable and enjoyable female for years to come for her new owner. She comes halter broke.
