POCONO MOUNTAIN STREET RODS Celebrating 50 Years
By Mike Salvia
T he Pocono Mountain Street Rods are celebrat- ing their 50th anniversary this year! Founded in 1975, Northeast Pennsylvania’s premier car club started with 15 initial members with a focus on slick, customized street rods. This would eventually grow to over 190 talented individuals who could claim to be a member over the past half century. The club, an affiliate of the NSRA since 1975, con- tinues to foster interest in both street rodding and the larger car hobby in general. This is accomplished through monthly organized cruises throughout the warmer seasons, as well as benefit car shows, dona- tions for community outreach, and a yearly scholarship fund for students at the local technical college.
Through the diligence of its current members, many of whom have been members since the club’s inception, the Pocono Mountain Street Rods look forward to pro- moting high-horsepower fun for another 50 years!
