Slonaker Memorial Award by ARP “AURABELLA”
Andy Leach and the fine crew at Cal Custom Auto combined talents with Bill and Angela Barbato to build the couple a dream ’33 Pontiac Model 601 sedan. Their dream came true when they won the 2025 “Slonaker Memorial Award” with their radically changed sedan. Some of the mods include a narrowed nose, the front of the fenders were made curvier like a ’33 Ford, the top was wedge-chopped about 2 inches, the grille was laid back and sits lower, the rear was tilted to match the top chop, headlights are from an Oldsmobile, the taillights are custom Caddy/Oldsmobile combination units and much more. The chassis features a custom IFS, 8-71 blown Pontiac 400 power, a Heidt’s IRS, and amazing Cal Custom Auto underside detailing like no other. Cato’s Custom Upholstery stitched the stunning Art Deco interior in burgandy leather. The paint is a discussion all on its own and is a custom-mixed color by Painthouse of Cypress, Texas, using Sherman Williams paint. It was a tough field this year, but what a great selection to honor Al and Mary Slonaker.
“TRI5EFFIE” Pat Kelley’s ’55 Ford F100 has all the cool stuff like a full Art Morrison chassis, Gen 2 Coyote power with Borla 8-stack injection, a Tremec six-speed tranny, a Strange 9-inch rearend, 19/20-inch wheels by Hot Rods by Boyd, a beautiful interior by Gabe’s, and it all started with an Eric Brockmeyer drawing. That drawing required a ton of cool and subtle body mods; the top has been wedge chopped, the body moved back 3 inches, a 1932 GMC Obviously, we all see the truth of this GMC’s heritage, but what a cool ride. Amadeo Angelo combined talents with Roseville Rod and Custom to build this ’32 Ford with an EFI-injected, 302ci GMC Straight-6 sporting a Howard 12- port head. Roseville used a Brizio’s chassis and after straightening out the body laid down the Beaver Brown paint from a ’36 Graham-Paige, slipped in a custom grille, a Roseville R&C interior with Classic Instruments gauges, and Diamond Back-wrapped Wheelsmith wheels. big rear window was added (1956), a custom bed was fabricated using 1955 panel truck quarters (creating a stylish, flowing stepside), and sweet EVOD taillights were made.
