America’s Most Beautiful Roadster by ARP
FENDERLESS ‘36 The competition was fierce, but it still didn’t come as a surprise when Ross and Beth Myers won “America’s Most Beautiful Roadster” for their ’36 Ford built by Rad Rods by Troy. We have all seen regular fenderless ’36 Fords, and like many winners this one’s body is completely fabricated by Rad Rides. The grille is about 4-inches shorter, the hood is slightly longer, the now
suicide doors are moved slightly back, the whole body sits lower than a ’32,
and much more. But it still looks like a ’36 roadster! The chassis is a beautiful piece of engineering that was custom built by the team with a torsion bar-suspended, dropped I-beam, a quick- change out back on custom wishbones, and filled with a 312ci Ford Y-block with a vintage McCulloch supercharger filled with modern internals. The crew then got everything perfectly straight and laid down the Porsche Aventurine Green Metallic paint.
RILEY RPU Mike DeVriendt brought his too cool ’32 Ford roadster pickup out from Camp Verde, Arizona. The Deuce hauler was built by Hot Rod Heaven, and it retains a ’32 B four-banger running a Riley OHV four-port conversion head, General Jumbo wheels and paint by Wayne Sauders and Ashley Dodder. Mike took home awards for “Outstanding Engineering” and “Outstanding Paint by PPG.”
KENNY G In a true traditional rod move, Kenny G (aka Kenny Green from BC, Canada) homebuilt his ’31 Ford roadster using a Blackboard Hot Rods pinched ’32 frame, Boling Bros. ’39 Lincoln juice brakes with Pinkie’s backing plates, a ’31 Brookville body with a 5 1/2- inch chopped windscreen and ’31 Chevy taillights hung out back. A Chevy 350 wears trips and feeds power through a TKO600 to spin the Winter’s quick-change. A leather interior with a Glide seat and some awesome aluminum work finish everything off.
