ICPF Announces Paid Summer Internship Opportunities In Indiana Students interested in machinery and manufacturing can gain knowledge and hands-on experience in a stable, well-paid industry. The International Corrugated Packag- ing Foundation has announced its partnership with Ivy Tech Community College at five participating campuses across Indiana to offer a new, interdisciplinary workforce degree program designed to attract maintenance techni- cians and machine operators to the industry. In addition to $3,000 in scholarship funds to put to- wards required coursework, eligible applicants are invited to interview for a paid internship opportunity with a corru- gated packaging company. ICPF offers financial support for tuition, books, and personal travel expenses.

that we cannot in the long term endure,” Dardas said. “It’ll cause our company and many other companies our size to probably go out of existence.” Perhaps the hardest part about the new tariffs is the uncertainty they bring, NAM board member Lisa Winton, CEO and co-owner of Georgia-based machinery maker Winton Machine Company, told NPR earlier this month. “We just noticed our first invoice that had a tariff line on it,” she said. “There’s just so much unknown right now, and I think that’s the most difficult thing — to make decisions for your company financially when you just don’t know all the pieces to the puzzle.” Meanwhile, US box shipments for the first quarter of 2025 were the lowest since 2009, according to the Fibre Box Association.
Interns will be paid to explore a career in corrugated packaging and gain hands- on experience with a leading manufactur- er. Visit careersincorrugated.com to re- serve a spot to interview with partnering corrugated packaging companies. The scholarship funds 19 credit hours over two semesters toward an Ivy Tech associate degree in one of the following programs: Advanced Automation & Ro- botics Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Production & Operations, and Smart Manufacturing. The ideal candidate is interested in a manufacturing-related career and/or coursework and lives near Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Lake County, South Bend, or Valparaiso, Indiana. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of their internship. ICPF and Ivy Tech have been working to set up internship opportunities with box plants located near the five participating campuses. Current participating compa- nies for summer 2025 internships include: • Welch Packaging Chicago • Kelly Box & Packaging Corp. (Fort Wayne) • Capitol City Container Corp. • Welch Packaging IndyCorr • Kelly Box & Packaging (Indianapolis) • Buckeye Corrugated • Welch Packaging (ElkCorr) • Pratt Industries (Valparaiso Corrugating) • Pratt Industries (Valparaiso Paper Mill) For more information, visit careersin- corrugated.com or contact ICPF Presi- dent, Caitlin Salaverria, at csalaverria@icp- fbox.org or ICPF’s Outreach and Marketing Manager, Alex LeMoine, at alemoine@icp- fbox.org.
Our customers have various needs for scrap and dust collection systems based on several factors including building layout, available space for the equipment, distance conveyed, local codes for noise and height as well as air permitting and available operating and maintenance staff. Change the game with a custom-designed system by G.F. Puhl. It can make all the difference. When it comes to trim collection systems, there’s virtually no problem we haven’t solved.
Problem: No room for a scrap system inside the building. Solution: If your building footprint won’t support additional trim waste equipment, go outdoors. Exterior systems like an above-roof or ground-level concentrator will boost your capacity. Problem: No way to monitor the system unless you’re on site. Solution: G.F. Puhl leads the pack with proprietary technology that makes it possible to monitor the system from wherever you are. Request PLC touch screen controls with real-time pressure balancing and real-time remote via your smart phone or computer. G.F. Puhl’s expert engineering team has more than 50 years of combined experience designing, fabricating installing, and commissioning trim and dust collection systems of every kind, including outdoor systems with dual compactors, above roof systems with single or multiple cyclones and balers and below roof screen separator systems. If you’re looking for a vendor that can help you solve the scrap collection puzzle once and for all, contact G.F. Puhl today. 615.230.9500 or sales@gfpuhl.com
Problem: No space for a baler room. No budget for baler room staff. Solution: Try outdoor auger compactors requiring minimal operator interaction. Auger compactors achieve higher compaction than conventional ram compactors with less maintenance and no hydraulic fluid. Dual compactor systems allow continuous running while the waste hauler is changing out the container. Problem: No budget for a new system. Solution: Request a custom system with remanufactured equipment. G.F. Puhl sells remanufactured balers, blowers, separators, filters, and more. The savings can be significant and the warranty adds peace of mind. Problem: Your existing system doesn’t meet codes and the inspector has notified you of a problem with the existing system. Solution: G.F. Puhl’s NFPA trained engineering team designs NFPA and OSHA compliant systems that are as safe as they are durable. Problem: Dust is out of control. Solution: G.F. Puhl systems are designed to minimize the hazards created by ambient dust. Dust briquetters, certified explosion isolation valves, flame front diverters, and other safety features maximize safety.
