Veselina Hristova Jones Massachusetts Adventures in P.E.O. Veselina (Vesi) Jones was born and raised in a small town in Bulgaria and came to the U.S. in 2007 to attend Cottey College. She developed a close friendship with Quita Nass from Chapter MY, Coronado, California, during her time at Cottey and was invited to speak at the California State Convention in 2009. She spent multiple school vacations with Quita and her husband, Ron. Quita has attended Vesi’s graduations, Ron walked her down the aisle in 2016 and Quita was on a plane to Boston soon after Vesi gave birth to her son. Vesi was given the gift of P.E.O. in May of 2010 when she was initiated into Chapter MY and then transferred to Chapter AE, Boston, Massachusetts, in 2011. After graduating from Cottey, Vesi obtained a B.A. in psychology from Smith College in 2011 and then a master’s in social work from Boston College in 2015. Sue Gerberi Mississippi No Limits/No Ceilings/ All Potential Sue Gerberi was born in Manhattan, New York, and grew up in south central Mississippi. She has resided in New York, Mississippi and Illinois. Sue’s family is her life and joy. Then came seven grandchildren and now three great-grandchildren. Sue’s hobbies are spending time with her family, sewing (smocking, quilting, etc.), cooking for others, reading, traveling and working in her yard. Sue is a first-generation P.E.O., initiated into Chapter JL, Sterling, Illinois, in 2013. Sue transferred to Chapter I, Oxford, Mississippi, in 2015. P.E.O. sisters and chapters are the best way to get introduced and involved in a new community. Chapter I’s president was the first person Sue met when she moved to Oxford. Once a sister, always a sister, no matter where you go. Sue had the opportunity to serve Chapter I as corresponding secretary the second year after her transfer. After serving as corresponding secretary for two years, Chapter I elected Sue to serve as chapter president. At the conclusion of her second year as chapter president, Sue was approached to fill a vacancy on the Mississippi State Board as secretary. What an introduction to the Sisterhood! This opportunity shed light on the mission of P.E.O., to serve other women by helping them reach their goals of higher education.
