A Note From Sylvia April is one of my favorite months of the year. As spring begins to take hold across Minnesota, our programming invites you to explore renewal in all its forms — through music, nature, and stories that connect us to one another and to our planet. This month, we are especially proud to release our newest history documentary, The Wild West Bank Sound , premiering Tuesday, April 21 during Minnesota Music Month. Produced by Twin Cities PBS’s Daniel Bergin and Kevin Dragseth, this film celebrates the rich musical legacy of the West Bank neighborhood of Minneapolis, and the artists, venues, and community stories that helped shape Minnesota’s music identity. The West Bank has long been a gathering place where cultures intersect, creativity flourishes, and music carries the spirit of community. The Wild West Bank Sound captures that energy and preserves it for new generations. It’s a reminder that public media plays a vital role in telling the stories of our neighborhoods and amplifying unique voices and perspectives. I hope you will tune in and celebrate this extraordinary chapter of Minnesota’s cultural history with us. April is also Earth Month, and we are honoring our planet’s beauty, resilience, and the very real challenges it faces. On April 1, the powerful two-part series Our New World sets the stage by examining unprecedented planetary upheaval and how humans, plants, and animals are adapting in remarkable ways to survive. On April 22, we present NOVA: Rain Bombs , an exploration of extreme weather events intensified by human activity. With science at its core, this program helps us understand the forces reshaping our climate, and what they mean for communities everywhere. Thank you for making this work possible. Your support allows us to produce meaningful local films, bring world-class programming to our community, and create space for thoughtful conversations about the issues that shape our lives.

The Wild West Bank Sound
We may not all be producers or editors, but we are part of the creative process. Every gift is a spark that fuels the next idea, the next breakthrough, the next moment of wonder. And in return, Twin Cities PBS offers something extraordinary: a liberal education in the truest sense — not political but rooted in the idea of educating free citizens to be thoughtful, informed, and engaged.”
