ARE YOU READY FOR YOUR CLOSE UP

Its summer time and we’ll all be out and about and we’ll all have our cell phones meaning we’re ready to shoot, as in photo shoot. You want your photos to come out well and since the phone cameras are pretty much aim and shoot you should be able to get some memorable snaps. Here are a few pointers to make your photos even better which will make you look like a professional. First make sure your camera lens is clean. That camera is in your pocket or purse and can get dirty. To ensure better focus and exposure turn on the camera grid. This will help to get better pictures. Photo composition is important. Is there a tree growing out of your subject’s head? Are your fingers in the way? Is there someone or something sticking into the side of the frame? Look quickly around the photo before taking it to check for intruding things. Generally you want the sunlight or lighting source behind you and not directly into the camera lens. This way you will get a more pleasing exposure and not a washed out image unless that’s what you want. In most cases if you hold the camera up higher looking down when taking a self portrait it will make you look better. Also realize you do not have to take pictures vertically. You can and should take pictures horizontally. All 35mm still and motion picture cameras are horizontal with the phone everything is vertical. Give it a try and you might be surprised.

Back in the day with film you actually had to understand exposure. In professional settings you would film and not see the result until the next day just like with still photography. Now there is instant gratification where you can see your results immediately. So, if not satisfied just shoot again. Remember, you lead with your smile and your photos will show your smile, so if something does not look just right let us know and we can improve your look to your liking so you’ll be ready for your close-up.

TO MOUTHWASH OR NOT

They come in all colors and flavors in small and large bottles. To use or not to use; that is the question. There’s the original yellow Listerine which we have all used when we have a sore throat. It even tastes like medicine. Is that a good thing? All these products claim to do something including fresher breath, fewer cavities and whiter teeth. For most people with healthy teeth and gums, it’s just a personal preference. What are the benefits of using these products? Cosmetic benefits include freshening your breath for an important meeting or whitening your smile for a date. The products temporarily control odors by masking them with a pleasant aftertaste but they don’t last long.

Therapeutic benefits are used to control gingivitis, dry mouth and/or mouth sores.

The problem with daily use of these rinses is many are alcohol based. In that case you are continually ingesting alcohol into your oral cavity which is not in your best interests since alcohol dries out your mouth. There are many alcohol-free mouthwashes on the market which are the ones you want to use if you are using a mouthwash daily. Most important to remember is that mouthwashes do not replace brushing or flossing. It is only an adjuvant to these daily necessary routines. When you have a sore throat due to a cold the old Listerine does help you to swallow easier.
