Convocation Speaker Jury Gualandris Thursday, June 20, 2024. 3:00 p.m.

Jury’s research is published in premier journals including the Journal of Operations Management , the Journal of Supply Chain Management , and the Journal of Industrial Ecology , among others. He is an Associate Editor at the Journal of Supply Chain Management , and he serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Operations Management , and the Production and Operations Management Journal . His research has been featured in popular media including The Globe and Mai l, Corporate Knights, The Conversation, The Toronto Star, The Financial Post , and B the Change , among others. Jury has received several awards for the originality, relevance, and rigour of his research and teaching, including: Western’s Faculty Scholar Award (2024), Ivey’s Research Merit Award (2024), highly commended responsible teaching case by Financial Times (2024), the Clean16 Leadership Award by Delta Management (2023), the Distinguished David G. Burgoyne Teaching Award (2022), Academy of Management Best Paper Award (2021), Best Reviewer Award (Honorable Mention) by Journal of Operations Management (2021), two Best Paper Awards by International Purchasing and Supply Management Education and Research Association (2016 and 2012), the 2015 Best Reviewer Award by the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management , and the Production and Operations Management’s Runner-up for Best PhD Proposal Award (2012). Jury is a member of the Complex Adaptive Supply Network – Research Accelerator at Arizona State University. Before joining Ivey, Jury was a faculty member at University College Dublin, Smurfit School of Business (Ireland). Jury received a doctoral degree in economics and management of technology and a master’s degree in engineering and management from the University of Bergamo (Italy).

Jury Gualandris is an Associate Professor of Sustainability and Operations Management at the Ivey Business School at Western University. His research focuses on how organizations nested within complex supply chains interact with each other to increase their individual and collective environmental performance, and the implications for economic competitiveness. He has been studying the relationship between supply chain structure and environmental sustainability in two empirical contexts: disclosures and transparency in global supply chains; and circular and regenerative agri- food systems. Jury’s commitment to positive impact has led him to take on leadership roles at the Ivey’s Building Sustainable Value (BSV) Research Centre and its sister organization, the Network for Business Sustainability (NBS). BSV shapes pathways of systems change towards a fairer and ecologically sound future through innovative research and impact programming. NBS connects researchers with managers to advance business sustainability.
