also been a producer for two feature films, while living in Albuquerque, New Mexico and working with a community-led grassroots Indigenous film collective. This unique collective was an exceptional experience where collaboration was key in producing several projects a year with varying budgets and themes. As a creative practitioner, she uses her extensive background in film production and collaboration to guide students in their journey of putting theory into practice. As a Creative Practitioner and Lecturer at Western University, Sally is excited to share her connections and knowledge with the students at Western and is proud of the work they have done in her classes. Sally is currently developing her first feature film - the first of what will be many films featuring Indigenous people and culture. Sally has been awarded two Canada Council for the Arts grants for the production of the short film Spring Fever (2015) and for the completion of two feature-length scripts Whitesnake (2010) and Pimâtsiwin (2017).

Sally Kewayosh is from the Walpole Island First Nation, with both Ojibway and Cree ancestry. She graduated from Western University in 2004 with a BA in Film Studies and then moved on to earn an MFA in Film Production from New York University, The Tisch School of the Arts in 2010 as one of the first two Indigenous women to be accepted into the prestigious school. As an Indigenous woman, Sally creates films that both inherently and overtly exemplify Indigenous culture. While continuing her journey as a visual storyteller, in 2011, Sally founded her own production company, Achimowin Films (meaning story in her mother’s language, Cree). With her production company, Sally has had the honour to collaborate on projects within her own community, most notably the documentary three young ladies, and she has brought the Indigenous community to a larger audience with her live action short film, R is for Routine , for Sesame Street .
