Attorney Ethel Mitchell, a graduate of Fisk University and Columbia Law School, served as law clerk to Chief Judge Almeric Christian of the U.S. District Court for the U.S. Virgin Islands. After her clerkship she remained in St. Thomas, practicing law for several years. Attorney Mitchell was one of the first women members of the Rotary Club II and a founding member of the Delta Sigma Theta Chapter in St. Thomas. She was an avid sailor and raced in the Rolex Regatta for four years. She was a strong supporter of Kids And The Sea (KATS), a program that taught young people how to sail. She still enjoys watching sail boat races. Attorney Mitchell spent nine months in Ghana and attended the Post-Call Course at the University of Ghana Law School and passed the Bar Exam to become eligible for admission to the Ghana Bar. Returning from Ghana in 1999, Attorney Mitchell served as Director of Administration and Executive in Charge of Production for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s (CBCF) Annual Legislative Conferences for 2000, 2001 and 2002. Attorney Ethel Mitchell is the founder of Wills and Trusts LLC, an estate planning firm practicing law in the District of Columbia, Maryland and northern Virginia. For over ten years, Attorney Mitchell has served her community by broadcasting her weekly groundbreaking radio program “Law Talk With Ethel Mitchell” which airs every Saturday morning 8:30-10 AM ET over Radio One, WOL 1450 AM and 95.9 FM, www.willsandtrusts.net/podcasts, www.woldcnews.com, Alexa and the Tune In App. Many programs are available through radio podcasts on the law firm’s website www.willsandtrusts.net. She also makes presentations at churches, fraternal organizations and to private groups.

Attorney Mitchell has two children, who are both lawyers. Her son, Ronald Scott Mitchell works with her in the family law firm, Wills and Trusts, LLC.
