COMMUNITY HEALTH HISTORIAN "Building Strategic Relationships - Creating Extraordinary Results" Patricia FunderburkWare is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Ware Development Group, Inc. (WDG), a corporation specializing in networking and relationship building in the areas of media and entertainment, health advocacy, community revitalization, and youth entrepreneurial development. Through WDG she has also provided leadership training for future leaders in the US,Africa, South America,Asia and Europe. Dr.Ware brings a diverse professional background to her corporation. As an actress, she performed with the National Players Classical Acting Company on a cross-country and world tour; the Kennedy Center, D.C. Black RepertoryTheatre Company and other noted theatres. She has also performed in radio and television commercials, industrial films, and in an Academy Award nominated film; and was the first statewide actress-in-residence for the North Carolina public school system.As an arts administrator, she founded and directed a statewide non-profit organization that became a national model to preserve the cultural and artistic heritage of racial and ethnic minorities. She also served as the first Director of Community Outreach for the North Carolina State Arts Council. As Co-founder and Executive Director of the Southeast Raleigh Community Development Corporation (CDC) that became a national model, she developed projects to stimulate resident led economic, education, health and family growth and stability in economically depressed and underserved minority communities. She used her skills as a licensed real estate broker to further assist the residents.To be more effective in her service, she moved into one of these communities with her daughter, Eboni, where they lived for four years. This is where she first became an advocate for positive youth development issues. Dr.Ware has served as a political appointee, consultant, and/or a board/committee member in six U.S. Presidential Administrations: Presidents Jimmy Carter (National Endowment for the Arts); Ronald Reagan (National Endowment for the Arts); George H.W. Bush (Director of the Office of Adolescent Pregnancy Programs, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services); Bill Clinton (Collaborative Working Group on HIV/AIDS and Women - U.S. Department of Health and Human Services); George W. Bush (Executive Director of the US Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Health); Barack Obama (White House Office of Public Engagement- Committee on African Affairs); Donald Trump(Advisor on African Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, and more).
