WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Our diverse and welcoming community inspires members to achieve personal and professional fulfilment through volunteer opportunities and meaningful engagement.
Our Volunteers
Volunteers stepped up in 2021, giving their time, expertise, and energy through a year of virtual volunteering. Without our volunteers—more than 850 strong—our regulatory and outreach work would not be possible. Our registration volunteers, for example, ensured new applications were reviewed in a timely manner. Discipline, Investigative, and Enforcement Committee volunteers protected the public from unsafe engineering and geoscience practices. Women in APEGA advisory volunteers helped advance the status of women in the professions. Outreach volunteers inspired a love of engineering and geoscience in future generations.
The year focused on building a more inclusive and robust volunteer base reflective of our diverse membership. We: reviewed our volunteer postings to remove bias and ensure inclusive language examined our processes to identify opportunities for more inclusive practices provided equity, diversity, and inclusivity training for volunteers offered professional development opportunities to our regulatory volunteers in areas such as conflict resolution, leading effective meetings, and developing high- performance teams
