2021 APEGA Annual Report

GIVING BACK APEGA is a long-time supporter of the United Way and encourages employees to pay it forward through various workplace giving and volunteering programs. Not only does this build our communities—it also builds a stronger APEGA through enhanced employee performance and engagement.

Engineering Day of Caring

Volunteers from Edmonton’s engineering community— including a five-person team from APEGA— brought their hard hats, hammers, and hearts to the Engineering Day of Caring in September. In partnership with the United Way, the annual event is a way for companies and their employees to make an impact. Through their collaborative efforts, volunteers have raised more than $22.5 million for 15 community enrichment projects through this initiative over the past 15 years. This year, volunteers revitalized two outdoor spaces used by e4c Alberta and Operation Friendship Seniors Society in the Boyle Street and McCauley neighbourhoods in Edmonton’s city centre. Renovations for e4c Alberta included the installation of picnic tables, raised garden beds, lighting, a composting system, and a rainwater pump at Alex Taylor School. For the Operation Friendship Seniors Society, volunteers created a new community space at Pioneer Place, a seniors complex across the street from the school, featuring a gazebo with lighting, raised garden beds, horseshoe pits, and outdoor artwork.
