Role Purpose and Respons

Assesses contract documentation with due regard to Building, Mechanical, Electrical and Health & Safety Legislation, Codes of Practice and University of Liverpool’s Policies. Complies with the University’s Health and Safety Policies and associated safe working procedures and guidelines and monitor similar compliance by the appointed Contractors and Consultants. Reports all accidents, dangerous occurrences and near miss incidents following the University procedures and standard forms. Accountable for ensuring that all relevant University policies and systems, and any audit requirements and institutional standards are met. Attends where requested and contributes to the FRCS Department’s Safety Management Group. Human Resources Management To manage a small lead of in-house multi-discipline consultants ie M&E Engineers within the Engineering Services Group and across the Capital Plan to deliver various projects as agreed. To undertake regular review assessments of the team performance and carry out annual Personal Development Reviews. Assists in the management of the Measured Term Contractor, Minor Works Framework Consultants and Contractors maintaining good industrial relations, and ensuring their compliance with the relevant Health, Safety standards. Attends regular meetings with the Design Group staff, Project Managers and Contractors/Consultants, where relevant, to review performance and as an aid to effective communication. Provides general supervision of works to junior and trainee staff, giving advice and guidance as necessary. Undertakes continuing professional development and participate in FRCS technical seminars and training initiatives. Other Deputises where necessary for the Head of Engineering Services Group as required. Undertakes any other related duties which may be required in managing the Engineering Services.
