After much consideration by a panel of seven professional musicians, the winners of this school year’s Concerto Competition were: Elle Sugimoto ’25 , double bass Lei-Yao Chang ’25 , cello Vance Maeshiro ’25 , violin Sao-Mai Nguyen ’25 , violin Grade Seven and Eight Class Day On October 15, the seventh and eighth grade classes gathered at east side beaches for Class Day. The students enjoyed a day in the sun, bonding with their classmates.

Senior Concerto Competition 2024-2025 'Iolani Performing Arts Department hosted its annual Concerto Competition for graduating seniors in our Band and Orchestra programs in October. Many participating students plan for and work toward this culminating showcase event for several years before competing. 'Iolani is one of only two Hawai‘i schools offering this very rare student opportunity to audition for the chance to perform as soloists with live orchestral accompaniment.

Marching Band Senior Night

In October, the ‘Iolani Marching Band celebrated Senior Night and Intermediate Band Night at the final home football game, establishing a new tradition. Intermediate students joined the high school band in the stands while seniors were honored with special decorations. The tradition celebrates graduating band members and welcomes the next generation of musicians.
