FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) regulates manufacturers of radiation-emitting electronic products used in medical, consumer, commercial and industrial applications. CDRH authority covers all forms of ionizing electromagnetic or particular radiation, or any sonic infrasonic or ultrasound waves emitted by products such as cathode ray tube TV receivers, medical x-ray systems, microwave ovens, lasers, sunlamps, ultrasonic therapy products, high-intensity discharge lamps, among others. CDRH is responsible for premarket, post market and compliance activities under its medical device and radiological health authorities in order to ensure that regulated industry is in compliance with Federal requirements and products used in the U.S. are safe.
