SUBMITTED BY DEBORAH DYKES

The River Club kayak launch has been installed! Please see pics below. The kayak launch stabilizers, grab bars and safety rails are the last additions to our new dock, and will be completed (subject to supply chain cooperation) by the end of June for use during Kids Camp. Thanks to all Paddler ’ s Club members for completing our recent survey. The comments and information you provided will serve as a guide for activities and policies for the coming year. Key learnings include:

1.Need more weekend events (both on - island and off - island). 2.Add more social activities in conjunction with time on the water. 3.Add ecology education to on - island paddles. 4.Use technology for reserving club gear, communicating with members.

Moving forward, action items include revamping the Paddlers Club website to include new content; wind, weather and tide apps; safety practices, and interesting local paddling routes. In addition, we will develop a list of social activities at River Club, now that the new dock is in place.

Upcoming trips: - Friday, July 15, at 10:00 a.m., please join us on a one - way paddle from Lemon Island back to the Callawassie Island Paddler ’ s dock. We will then have a picnic lunch there or at the River Club. - Monday, August 22, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., come paddle on this 3 - mile kayak excursion from the Russ Point landing to the large, ebb tide sandbar that separates Hunting and Fripp Island. We'll ride the tides both ways and stop for a leg - stretch. Stay at the beach area for the afternoon or grab lunch at Johnson's Tavern or Foolish Frog. - Thursday, September 15, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Cuckholds' Creek. Meander down the beautiful backwater creek in the heart of the ACE Basin on this 4 - mile paddle. Highlights are the remains of the rice culture and mirror - like reflections of the landscape in the dark water.

Please make sure you select “ Callawassie Island Paddlers ” in your email selections under your website profile to receive information on all Paddler activities. Kayak trips are open to everyone so please share with your friends and neighbors. Joining the Paddlers Club is $15/ person annually and includes all the fun parties (with beer, wine, soda provided by the club).
