SUBMITTED BY GLENN MILLER An Introduction to the Callawassie Island Veterans of Foreign Wars Research Club
This club will meet quarterly to give its participants a chance to do their own research into their veteran's (mother/father, grandmother/grandfather, aunt/uncle, or brother and sister) military history. Glenn Miller, the club's organizer, found out when he started looking into his father's military history that whenever he contacted the Army's administrative offices or the National Personnel Records Center, it took a while to get a response from these agencies. The club's goal is to provide each person with the means and methods for discovering what their veteran did during their military career and possibly where they went. Most veterans, especially those who saw actual combat, are the most reluctant to talk about their military experiences. The hope is to inspire each individual to keep "digging" into the available sources (i.e., the internet, VFW offices, news articles, etc.) to discover information that can be passed down through their families.
If you are interested in participating in this newly formed club, please add the Veterans of Foreign Wars Research Club to your email preferences under your profile on the Property Owner's Only website. (www.callawassieisland.org).
Glenn Miller will send an email to those interested parties with information regarding the club's first meeting. You may also contact Glenn at 610 - 349 - 4748; ghm1119@ptd.net.
